I personally believe in it in theory, but in practice ? I wouldnt trust the government or Old Bill to boil an egg , let alone kill people legally, what do you think ?

Im with Desmond Tutu on this one. "To take a life when a life has been lost is revenge, not justice."

Im kinda torn tbh on one hand if you have life without parole dosnt that take away all hope and make everyday a crushing misery? seems cruel and death penelty would be preferable. But there are to many cases of mistakes fit ups and general he looks guilty of something to have any faith in the system.

I've always wondered whats so bad about revenge ? Especially if it gives comfort to a victim of crime .

Personally I do not feel I could get comfort from revenge. And revenge is not something I want to have in my life as it just leads to bitterness and anger.

And as you have stated, I also cannot trust the British Police.

I think that I have asked this question before (but don't recall an answer) but is there a source of reliable figures comparing murders/'000 for countries with/without capital punishment to see if it actually forms a deterrent?

From memory I do not think there is any conclusive evidence either way.

There probably is but they've also produced for the USA in attempt to prove its not a deterrent, however they also failed to take into account the social and economic conditions that are proven to have an effect on crime rates.

Eh ?? Ive asked a genuine question , given my view, and added a fairly comprehensive poll , and your contribution is " :fishing: "

Okay, sorry. It's just I've lost count of the number of times this has been debated on here, so I assumed you were just fishing for a binfest. Perhaps unfair on reflection. I'll just not contribute. Carry on!

I am a yes man, but only for certain crimes, Cop killers, Kid killers like that young girl gunned down in her family shop, and mass murder like terrorist attacks.

But the evidence would have to prove 100% guilt and i would want extensive investigations to proof beyond doubt the people where to blame.

There is no real deterrent in this country at the moment.
