Should we blame the BBC? (Sorry if fixtures)

A very good mate of mine and a person who knows both his football and what life is all about, phoned me within seconds of the decision and simply said.

"f***ing Panorama!"

Is it all too easy to blame it on that one programme or did we just lose out to the better bid?

Nothing to do with Panorama the whole systems is totally corrupt and money driven, welcome to the future of football now corrupt from the top level probably down to the bottom.

I think we can at least partly blame the BBC. Investigate fine, but the timing was just sensationalism. I hope they're proud of themselves.

Mind you, I think a large chunk of the media in this country are disgraceful.

I can remember watching a world in action programme in the late 70s early 80s that was solely about how corrupt FIFA is, i was ready to slag off the bbc like everyone else will be, but its been going on for years and years and wont stop, the bidding process is a joke, qatar???!!! yeah right!

Right. So because your mate knows football, his suggestion of "f***ing Panorama" means it was the BBC's fault?

Brilliant.

Maybe Russia had a better bid? Either way, FIFA are corrupt, and we can't afford to ignore that when it suits us.

if the Panorama programnme was serious, then I expect them to carry on and push hard to chase the corrupt officials...trouble is now it doesn't matter as the next time we can get the WC is 2026.

The WC is now yesterdays news!

If it had been close and we missed out by a couple of votes then there could have been a possibility that one or two delegates would vote against England as it twas our media who exposed their corruption and possibly end the gravy train for some of them.

However as we were fourth then its abundabtly clear that Panorama or the Sunday Times article made no difference whatsover.

I was not in favour of the broadcast before the vote but now I understand that to have shown it after the vote would look like sour grapes.

Don't believe everything you read in The Sun. Freedom of speech is universal, the BBC (The greatest broadcaster and envy of the world) doesn't get to choose when to or when not to report the news. Perhaps..., if you bothered to dig a little deeper, you'd notice Murdoch, who runs The Sun and is arguibly the Tories most important donor has a huge interest in seeing the BBC topple and people eventually having to pay for news. Something that you and I currently take for granted.

Good on the BBC for highlighting Fifa's corruption. Shame on you for thinking any failed world cup bid is soley the fault of the BBC.

Use your brain and stop jumping on badwagons. Unless it's the Millibandwagon, in which case you're allowed. Nay. Encouraged.

Agreed. The Daily Mail haven't helped matters either.

Or should I be saying Sunday Times? I forget.

Anyway it's a joke that all our media do anything to tarnish the bid - they should all be supporting it - maybe they're not 'English' like I am. Or maybe they're just c.unts
