That critisism of players performances is fair game, But out and out abuse is a bannable offence?

After all isn't NSC for supporters not abusers? Leave that to the palace dregs who post here.

This was inspired by the other thread debating the abuse players receive. Managers and the Board though should remain fair game.

I would agree. If someone was posting shit about you on a message board, you wouldn't like it.

Well WW, you wouldn't agree would you. At the risk of getting you and CB mixed up as I sometimes do, I believe you were the one who said two Albion players (can't remember the names) should go and die in a hole..

Not guilty i'm afraid.

99% of the time, I prefer to discuss players footballing ability on this discussion board, as I do believe that to be its purpose.

It's up to the players if they want to read, but I would hope they decide not to. If they do decide to read it, then they should be able to take what it says with a pinch of salt. After all, we're just spectators, what the hell do we actually know?

No.

I believe in free speech (as long as it's the right side of the law)

The players are not forced to come to a message board.

Trouble is, how do you draw the line between free speech and slander.

To champion freedom of speech when some, including those making posts on this thread, just constantly make PERSONAL attacks on the players who play for the team they're meant to support, to me is pathetic.

Everyone is entitled to moan at a player if they've performed badly and that's the footballers supporters right as a paying customer and fan. However, it winds me up when week after week I see some the usual suspects launch personal & vindictive attacks against the same players.

If its related to their playing ability or performance its free speech. If it just attacks a player to make the poster feel self-important it isnt.

Not if it's one dreamt up by you.

I think Looney makes a fair point. Comments such as 'f*** off and die slowly' directed to anyone frankly have no place or justification.

Yes, but if it helps the poor little socially inadequate and deficient loser gain a little attention and make himself feel more important because people respond to him for being such a prick we should let them off, no?

After all, some people have so little power or security in their life they need to slanderously lambast our players - because they are in a more socially powerful position than oneself - and thus make them feel a bit more dominant and useful in life.

They’re otherwise known as insecure loners.
