A good read in what way? I would say the journalist is a typical "entitled" left-winger, who spends his time carping about people who will achieve several times what he will. What a waster.

I think you’ve quoted the wrong person.

In what way has Prince Charles achieved more than a successful writer?

The Prince's Trust charity and 16 other charities
The creation of Poundbury as an example of how modern architectural towns should be for the good of community
Organic farming and produce through the Duchy range
A campaigner on environmental issues
Completed a military career

That is for starters from the top of my head. I would say that is more achievement than your sniping "successful" journalist is likely to achieve.

Constitutional monarchy makes total sense compared to the options assuming it’s agreed that a head of state is needed who is not also the political leader, any system that requires the public voting would be a potential disaster imagine who they might choose when they voted Brexit and for Boris Johnson we could end up with Nigel Fararge as president 😜

Give some journalist endless money and status and maybe they would "achieve" similar things..?

Perhaps one of the reasons The Queen has hung on so long is because she realises how spectacularly unsuited to the top job her eldest son is?

Either way, "left wing" Nick Cohen also writes for the right wing Spectator and his most successful book was in defence of free speech. Proper free speech.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the achievements of Prince Charles. What is clear though is that he has strong opinions that he doesn't mind making public, which is not ideal for head of state of a constitutional monarchy. Hopefully, he'll bring the whole system crashing down. Maybe that's his plan with his revolutionary Traditionalist views.

Is it your shared love of pseudoscience that attracts you to him?

Like on NSC? :D Some would say "proper free speech" is the domain of Libertarianism (which doesn't make it wrong), but I don't think Cohen is of that ilk.

One man's pseudoscience is another man's science is another man's snake oil. Actually no, it is his eyebrows I like.

On a serious note, do you disagree that they are his achievements or disagree that they are positive achievements?

It is often very difficult to know someone’s achievements when they are at the top as they have teams around them to devise and implement strategy. Also worth pointing out that Charles (and for that matter Elizabeth) are figureheads. On your separate point about schooling I can assure you that an expensive education does not automatically lead to ‘refined character.’ Often it is quite the opposite.

Well, there's that Aussie guy who wastes his life on here who calls himself a Libertarian and is endlessly banging on about cancel culture - right up to the point where he admitted he wanted sex education posts removed from social media and for the teaching of it to be changed in schools.

Either you have free speech or you don't. Cohen understands that. The brofloke disciples of Steve Bannon? Not so much.

I don't feel he deserves much credit for sticking his branding on some charities and advocating organic food. Nick Cohen, as far as I know, has worked his way up in his career on his own merits. Charles has had everything handed to him.
