Should England boycott Qatar and host her own tournament in 2022?

If we did form any break away it'd have to be done very covertly speaking with several major FA's over a period of years.. 2022 is far enough away but we'd need some serious nations on board to make a go of it. All of the paid for, bent, corrupt, African nations would not make it which I guess is their own fault.

Maybe England could re-create the old Home nations tournament of old if the other nations don't qualify...... oh wait!

edit - suggested above but mine was tongue-in-cheek as England weren't interested as they though they were better than that.

This has already been done and England wanted none of it.

Welcoming the 4 Associations Tournament, FAI Chief Executive John Delaney said:
“We are delighted to host the Four Associations tournament. This will be the first time Ireland has hosted a senior international tournament and the atmosphere around Dublin will be tremendous, especially with thousands of visiting supporters from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland expected to travel for the matches. The tournament will be a fitting celebration for our fantastic New Stadium which is on schedule for completion in 2010.”

George Peat, Scottish FA President said

"I am absolutely delighted that the 4 Association tournament has become a reality.

"When we sat down to discuss the plans, we were all excited about putting on a tournament that would celebrate the game and give our fans a great experience. This new event will do exactly that and we certainly look forward to taking part and of course, hopefully, winning it in 2011"

President of the Football Association of Wales, Peter Rees said:

“The Football Association of Wales is delighted to be part of this celebration event in Dublin in 2011. We look forward to crossing swords with our two cousins from across the Irish Sea, as well as Scotland in friendly rivalry. I am sure Welsh football fans will be delighted with this news.”

Howard Wells, Chief Executive of the IFA said:

“This visionary tournament commencing in 2011 is exciting and provides all four countries with the opportunity of measuring progress in terms of international development. For supporters it also provides a real opportunity to see first class competition live and within easy access. From a commercial and tourism perspective it will provide a show case for Governments to support and market.”

A spokesman for the FA said: "We couldn't give a Sh*t"

I've had the same thoughts. A competition for the worlds top clubs with massive prize money. This might lead to the expulsion of England from European and other international football but knowing how Money hungry players are the worlds finest would be quite happy to not play in Qatar. It would serve as a warning to THE CORRUPT Gentlemen of FIFA.

It will never happen, just look at how many other FA's backed our calls to delay the vote last week.

If we turn our back on FIFA then UEFA wouldnt let any club side play in Europe meaning no Champs League for Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, etc and they will NEVER let that happen (we all know they are the people REALLY in charge of the FA)

No. The England team would never agree to this either, as they would not have a decent and ready made excuse for the abject failure if the tournament was here. They couldn't blame the weather could they?

I can't see many countries actually wanting to compete in Qatar.
We're talking about a country which is basically a desert, prone to sudden, violent dust storms and with no summer rainfall. Temperatures can reach 50 °C (122 °F) in July, so it would simply be a test of endurance; footballing skill would come a very poor second. The fact that it easily won the vote can only be due to one thing, so should the FA invite nations to compete for a rival tournament, maybe The Queen Elizabeth Trophy?
FIFA would not sanction this of course, but we could ignore them; then if they threatened to expel us we could say "fine" and form a new world body.
What say you, NSC?

It is not quite that simple as FIFA would possibly refuse sanction for the tournament ban the English FA so that players from a banned association couldnt play with or against players from non banned countries. That would mean that unless the Scottish FA and Welsh FA joined us English players couldnt play in the same team as them. The English affiliated clubs ie all 92 League teams would be banned from playing against other FIFA sanctioned teams ie European Cup.etc. They could still run the leagues un sanctioned but as I said no Welsh Scottish Irish or foreign players could participate. It would be virtually impossible to organise and run a league competition.

Sepp Blatter will be dead soon won't he anyway? Step it up big time to persuade them to reform when he resigns or croaks it.

There was a piece in one paper at the weekend suggesting that FIFA members are unhappy with Blatter and his stance and he is not expected to last his full term. In fact it was suggested that there may be moves to force him to resign within a few months.

As much as i hate to say this there is only one way for The FA to have more influence over FIFA and UEFA. We have to kiss ass, grovel and play thier dirty games. All the time we fight them and continue to isolate ourselves the further we get from influence and power. We have to bring them down and instigate change from with in.

We are finally get our grass roots in order (seemingly) the next step is to mend bridges with the international community.

Playing the long game is the only way.

As mentioned too many poorer nations in FIFA get generous handouts which keep them in the lap of luxury. How many people in Benin get to stay in 5* hotels all year round with generous expense accounts. I read that FIFA execs get $500 a day allowance without the need to receipt it.!!! So these type of nations are never going to slaughter the cash cow that has fed them well for a number of years. The fa whilst being morally right for once will never persuade these nations to change. This is why splatter will remain in charge for as long as his calfs are being fattened.

But he will be gone next summer, so that is not really an issue.

I remember this sentiment when McClaren was in charge.

The manager is irrelevant, no one can name a silk purse from the pigs ears that play for England.

England are in a no win situation here.We are the Millwall of FIFA.No one likes us.........do we care ? We could put little effort into qualifying for FIFA competitions, and stage alternative runners up cups.We could call it the Johnstones International Paint Trophy.Sponsors would race to televise England v Mauritius in a first round game.Famously we'd lose,of course, and manager Alonso Spuffoni would claim we were underawed by the opposition.FIFA would yawn or snigger at the pouting FA.Geoff Hurst would claim we'll never again lift the International Paint Trophy.

Supporters would be waiting for the new season to kick off,not giving a damn.

* In a late development Spuffoni has rejected the England post and is expected to become Chelsea's new manager.
