Anyone remember the computer shop (Gamer) the one that used to be along the same road as the Cinema?
Used to love going there. Remember seeing the Atari ST and Amiga for the first time. People used to crowd those two computers.

Mainly went there for Commodore 64 games

Meopham, Kent.
Sports Corner, just down from Portslade Station. Used to love that place.

When I was a kid I used to love going in Beatties and Gamleys in the old Imperial Arcade. Would often result in the purchase of an Airfix kit as the Tamiya stuff was too pricey.

Computer-Sec I think it was called, it was on that road just off London Road where the Co-op post office entrance was, leading up to The Level.

Used to go in there after school almost every day to check out the megadrive games!!!

That sex shop up by Brighton Station too

I think you'll find it's till there

When my kids were little, Saturday morning shopping comprised the Beatties-Gamleys-Uncle Sams circuit by the Clock Tower. All gone, all missed.

Another vote for Gamleys and a bizarre one for Bejams ( always loved going there with my Mum ).

Arthur Sallis. Sold electrical components. Didn't know what most of them were but we bought resistors and transistors for a few p, and made small circuit boards.

my Dad knew him well
my Dad was a radio ham and spent many an hour in his emporium

also BELLMANS on the London Road closed and then became a Fine Fare

Probably not an NSC favorite [or mine] but my Mum worked in Vokins for yonks.
I did 5 years at Redhill Motors - some in North Road and some in their Lewes branch.

It's easy to knock Wollies for tat products [tut tut Eddie] but I bought my first ever vinyl single in there - Lilly the Pink by the Scaffold. Also, as a young teenager in the early 70's I saved all my pocket money and paper round earnings and bought myself an electric guitar from Woolies. Doubtless the quality of said guitar was poor but I HAD AN ELECTRIC GUITAR that was bought and paid for all by myself and for that I have to thank Woolies.

Also missed are the many cinemas that have gone now [these modern multiplexes aren't the same - no character]

In my bungalow
Orange Hand in the old Churchill Sq. They use to have a slide down to the lower floor and my mum loved going down it as much as me.
It would have been about where the Nat West bank is now

That eccentric hobby-shop Valelink in Queen Street run by the rather contrary John Trory. Always good for a rummage and a laugh at his "political uncorrectness".

Please open up another place John.

Was sad to see Virgin go. Worked there for 4 years when I first moved to Brighton, some happy memories in there.
Also sad to see that Tomorrow's World video shop on 7 dials has gone. Used to love going in there on a Sunday evening to get a film and snacks many moons ago now.

LA...wishing it was devon..
radio rentals.. not the same if out and about during final score (if not at match)...these mobile phone apps have spoilt the enjoyment of all hanging around the shop window and ooo and arrring as the scores came through.
another shout out for woollies.. am still using the gardening equivalent of swiss army knife that came from there years ago.. superb!

I don't know if there were branches in Brighton but growing up in the North shopping trips with mum always included visits to MacFisheries, Home & Colonial and Booths.

Each had there own unique smells!

O'Hagan's Hot Dogs - King's Road

Wasn't a proper night out in Brighton in the 60's/70's if it didn't end up with a hot dog from O'Hagan's. Proper chipolatas sausages (not frankfurters) with loads of fried onions, yum yum!
