For me it's got to be Darlington

Decent town for boozing in, shitty old ground where you put in the ultimate 'Lego' stand on one side

Plus liked Bothferry Park (Hull) and the trips to Orient, Brentford, Southend and Peterboro were always fun days out, although the results were variable to say the least!!!

And finally Carlisle, just because its such a f***ing long way away but decent stand for away fans

Quite like Plymouth, though that's probably helped by two visits= two wins. Always had a soft spot for Wycombe too, odd really as it's on the edge of town, not particularly characterful and with no great history. But it's tidy and compact.

How can anybody say Selhurst- I don't care about the results (my last two visits have been a win and a draw, so one result aside, my memories aren't that bad), it's just because it's a truly awful old ground. That stand is like the Black Hole of Calcutta underneath: I have no idea how it gets a safety certificate. The food's terrible, the seats are shit, wooden and uncomfortable, the view is partially blocked by pillars and the stairs down to the toilets give you some idea of what it must feel like to be a Chilean coal miner.

I haven't been to Cambridge's ground for 20 odd years. That used to be a fantastic place.

Still is shame it is in the Conference. Away stand pretty good. Plans to sell the ground and build a new one but some of the dealings in the background haven't been too positive.

The old grounds were unique and had character, unlike today's lookalike stadia to watch football in a sanitised way.
How about:
Gay Meadow- man with coracle to retrieve ball from river
Eastville - flower beds behind each goal, in space provided by a dog track around the pitch
Somerton Park - corner flags on removable coconut mats on speedway track. Railway sleepers for terracing.
Aldershot - flowers on banking leading up to the path behind the goal
Feethams - first time i went you walked past the cricket pitch after going through the tunstiles.
Northampton County Ground - duckboards to stand on down one touchline on the cricket ground - but the 'cage' on the other side was awful.
Hereford - the bull, the shallow terrace, the agony....

What's happened at Cambridge is a crying shame. They had great supporters, a proper old school ground and a team punching well above their weight (nearly got into the Premier League in 1992).

Then the money men took control, and everything went pear shaped. I hope they get back in the league sometime soon.

Here
Exeter, York, Torquay, Chester, Shrewsbury, Bristol City, Southend, Darlo and Carlisle - all associated with great trips, excellent towns/cities, great drinking and good company. In a bizarre way the result was almost always incidental.

ah so many grounds to choose from!

Huddersfield (Leeds Road) went there when it snowed and the way terrace was closed and had to sit in the seats. Won 3-0 i think and the locals lobbed snowballs at us on the way out.

Hull City (Old Ground) Tiny away terrace behind the goal, with most of the rest of the ground closed.

Fulham - the away terrace was alway a good laugh. remember it being so cold there on one trip we made fires on th terrace.

leyton orient - enjoyed the old away end terrace there.

Plymouth - again loved the old away terrace there.

Other notable mentions Cairlise, Manor Ground - Oxford, Exeter, Cambridge and Stockport

The Old Den, Leeds Road at Huddersfield, Fulham, Rochdale, Feethams (Dalington), Port Vale (great ground), Chesterfield, Fratton, in fact loads, but the best of all the shit grounds?.. well its a home ground, The Goldstone obviously. Palce called it "Camp Gallstone" (referance to the floodlights that did make the ground look like a prisoner of war camp). Frankly the Soldstone was shit, it was not nice, it was fantastic. You can keep your padded seats and Gullys Girls. Give me a shit cup of coffee, a crumbling terrace and no gits expecting to be entertained any day.

Mansfield, FA Cup early 80's but can't remember the year, although I'm sure Ray Clarke got the winner. freezing cold open terrace & bloody miles from the station, had to get a bus. On the way back the bus driver drove to the police station & leapt out as the fight on the bus spilled out on to the pavement. Happy days.

I'm going with Peterborough, Mansfield and Plymouth. Peterborough is always a great atmosphere, likewise and surprisingly Mansfield despite the worst toilets known to man and Plymouth happy memories of a promotion party there :)

Carlisle was always good, wolves with only 2 sides, Macclesfield moss rose and Mansfield ( especially when the local youth who had climbed the trees to taunt us, fell off )

Also Victoria ground stoke , just to see the locals ( it really was like stepping back in time )

Always liked Luton - strange entrance bewteen a gap in a row of terraced houses. surprised the residents didn't set up a burger bar in their back gardens, could of made a fortune.
Also barnet - was the coldest one year and the wettest (another year) that I have ever been
at a football ground. If my memory serves me- when it was the wettest even the teams didn't do their normal warm ups, just ran out with the ref at 2.55pm, tossed the coin and started the game.
