I makes you wonder if the uncle or whoever he was, who kidnapped her, is actually an innocent party in all this, was he actually protecting her.
He could have taken her home, informed Social Services that he'd done so and let them investigate the stepfather. I doubt that he is innocent.

You have more faith in Social Services and the Police here, than the majority of our population.
If the child has not been harmed by her stepfather? What can his motive had been?
He could not have kept the child for ever?
Perhaps he just could not rationally think of a way out, for all we know, he was scared ****less of the rest of the family.

What chance did Shannon and her brothers and sisters ever have. The best that can happen here is that Social Services step in and place all the children in happy loving families and then the mother and all her chronies get locked up with the keys thrown away.

What with various members of the family being arrested and charged with things like 'Conspiring to pervert the course of justice' etc, I do wonder if the whole family were conspiring to re-create some sort of McCann-esque plot, ie...
1. Hide a child.
2. Get in front of the media being all sad about a missing child.
3. Expect lots of cash to come their way.
It does sound like the step-father/porn thing is nothing more than a side-story to the main 'abduction' thing.

Especially as the police have explicitly said that the mother is the 4th person arrested in connection with the abduction. That makes the uncle of the stepfather, the mother of the step-father, the sister of the stepfather and the mother of Shannon herself.
How pissed off must the stepfather be that his kiddie-porn collection was found as a total accident whilst the bill were investigating this farce of a 'kidnapping'.

The bloke doesn't appear to be the sharpest fella around. It's probably a case of him looking for some late night porn action one night and stumbled onto one or two dodgy sites and hurriedly closed his browser. Unfortunately, that was too late, and some questionable material was left in the dark recesses of his hard drive.

I really think that is wishful thinking. I imagine it is hard to access those sort of sites and mistaken access is very, very unlikely. Who knows though, bloody sus the whole episode.
