Pretty sure none of us know Shane Duffy.

I have met him several times but you are right I wouldn't say I know him.

But I know other people who know him well - And NO - Not Katie Price - So don't ask me if I will ask her to join your Basement Club

Cos Not playing at all is an excellent way to get into any International side. Surprised I’ve not been called up on that basis, or Gary Breen

Sitting on the Bench at Brighton the whole of last season didn't seem to harm his chances did it ?

Let's be honest, it is a silly move for his international ambitions.

... but he's already achieved anything it's possible to achieve for Ireland.

So if it's more important to him to win silverware with one of his boyhood clubs, then that's fair enough really.

That all said, they'll probably still pick him for every game.

Agree with the bold but most of the Irish squad are Championship or bottom half of the Premier League, if they are even picked.

Duffy has now peaked in term of ability, so its not like going to Celtic is going to effect his development and surely playing every week in Scotland and having a winning mentality is better than sitting on the bench.

I hope Duffy racks up silverware, the guy is legend and his partnership with Dunk was brilliant to watch every week.

He actually played quite a bit last year. More than a lot of people seem to remember.

As someone who supports Celtic and Brighton I can put this laughable nonsense to bed. Shane Duffy will only enhance his Ireland capabilities playing for his boyhood club. They reckon he bbroke down in tears doing his initiation song, so much he loves the club. His pride and passion for wearing the hoops will only make him a better player, as it has done for many other players down the years.

totally agree . We needed someone like him to play plan B when the tappy tappy stuff doesn't work or when we are up against rough house teams . Whilst Potter might be an improvement on Hughton he certainly has his blind spots. And yes some will argue that its those blind spots which allow him to focus on his way....

It'll be interesting next summer to see if he loves money or Celtic more

Was it "Who Let The Dogs Out"?

Celtic usually win over money, seen plenty of players over the years choose Celtic over a higher pay day elsewhere.

Players in their peak? Like who? And 50% pay cuts?

Henrik Larsson, Scott Brown, Stefan Johansen, Fraser Forster, Neil Lennon, Alan Thompson, Lubomir Moravcik…….

Scott Brown? Did he step 'down' from Hibs to Celtic and take a big pay cut?

No but he's had plenty of opportunities to leave and earn more money in the PL but chose to stay at Celtic because of how special we are as a club.

Yeah sure - but that wasn't my point. I said I can't see any players taking a big pay cut at the 'height' of their career to play for Celtic. Most of your list of players don't fall within that bracket.

Again - I highly doubt Shane Duffy will make a permanent move to Celtic next summer, because he won't want to take a huge pay cut.

We'll see, I know he absolutely adores Celtic, like many millions around the globe. Let's resurrect this thread in 12 months, I think you may be surprised.

I think Celtic missing out on the Champions league money is the reason why they could only afford a loan fee this season.
