Tedebear - you're right of course. But some of these people ONLY ever slag off the team. It's incredibly depressing to sit next to when all you want is the team to do well.

I know it is! I just feel sad for people like that - not angry or depressed. Just very very sorry, sorry that they can't see that constructive support is better than moaning abuse. They probably moan about the food and the venue and the weather. They probably moan at home and yell and shout when they don't get their own way. Sad sad people tis all I think, spending money to moan......

I'd never BOO the team, let alone an individual player, but I won't applaud an abysmal performance either. I don't actually know what effect this has on players but I suspect that it's a great deal easier to ignore critical shouting (especially of the random abuse variety) from the fans than it is to leave the pitch to silence.

I can't get along to Withdean very often but did go yesterday. Normally I look forward to going and supporting a young Brighton side who I think are doing very well to be where they are given the reality of our financial situation. I've also seen us play some pretty good stuff at times this season. However, I found yesterday one of the worst experiences at any football match I've experienced for quite some time, and the reason for that was the negative, vitriolic support from Brighton supporters. It was an absolute disgrace. It didn't do much to counter the argument that football fans are f***ing morons at the best of times. Have so many people forgotten what has gone on at the club over the past decade? It's a miracle we're in existence at all, let alone being close to the play offs in league one, let alone having an excellent youth policy that is bringing through a lot of good local talent. People also seem to have it in for DK at the moment, which is laughable. The current board have shovelled millions of their own cash just to keep the club alive. Nobody else has come forward and actually shown they have the money. Nobody else was willing to help the club when we were left royally f***ed when we left the goldstone. The Withdean may not be the best ground in the football league, but it is in Brighton. There were no other options, and the club had to be innovative in getting us back to Sussex at all, and the club has had to bend over backwards to residents and the council just to make sure we don't still have to do the round trip to Gillingham. We should be proud that against all the odds we do still exist, we've got a brand new stadium finally on its way, we've got a good young side with plenty of local talent in it, and all the bastards - councils, MPs, previous owners, nimbys etc - who tried to bring this club down have failed. Long Live BHAFC and PLEASE try and get behind the team, a team that has come so close over past years to not being in existence at all.

Whether you agree with slating fan's responses or not - it's certainly not a subject above question.

DK could be battling on two fronts - getting things right for running the club and the new stadium plans, plus facing existing fan's criticisms.
I it were me, I'd be telling all the malcontents to go get f***ed, so big up to him for even bothering to give 'em the time of day.

I agree and the abuse seemed not to come from the regulars.. However as a fan who sits there week in week out and can see the team have the ability it was so dissappointing to see players like Lynch and Robinson wandering around in a daze as if they had been hit over the head in a comedic attack by Laurel and Hardy with a frying pan.

We were utterly dire yesterday - don't get me wrong on that - and we can and should be playing a hell of a lot better. But the singing section and the family stand seemed to be the only areas where people were actually happy to be there supporting Brighton, our team.

Frankly with comments like that you are no better than them. Seems to me like you're trying to lay blame somewhere yourself. Giving players a thought or two everynow and then is part and parcel, but sinking as low as to harange your own fellow fans really is sinking low. They are entitled to their own opinion whether you agree with it or not. As a Brighton fan you should have thicker skin than that. There are people out there who moan when they're winning....

spot on

if EVERYONE who moaned didnt bother coming back as they were ****s, then we would be even more f***ed in regards to attendances than we are now

I would agree wholeheartedly with this point, and what tede and Hans posted, I have never booed my team no matter how badly they or any particular individual were playing. To be honest the Withdean whingers are one of the main factors that keep me away, apart from the cost and distance...it really does detract from the experience. I know that it is easy to say that you pay your money and take your choice but I have always considered positive encouragement to be more effective than outright beration or abuse as a form of motivation, but hey...what do I know?

The lack of support at the front of Block F was fvcking embarrassing. The negative comments were non-stop with minimal attempt to get behind the team.

The old pr!ck behind me (Row B 14 Seat 143 or so?) whinged throughout with only mumbled support in the 2nd half after I'd had a pop at the cvnts attitude - then he left 10 before the end!

To my left some pr!ck sitting with mum and dad was slating Butters without seeming to notice the 4/5 headers he won in the first half!

These people should be fvcking shot - dont bother coming back you cvnts!

The team is rubbish, the management pathetic, the supporters are allowed their say.

All the time the blind follow the blind there will be no improvement.

People have paid their money, same as you,but you don't want them to have an opinion (unless it matches your own.)

Pathetic.

Everyones entitled to voice their opinion but with that entitlement comes a responsibility to understand its also about SUPPORTING our team - especially if things arent going well - and some of these 'supporters' were whinging from the first few minutes!

Lets be honest the support from the south stand is f***ing shameful
- when we beat Northwich Vic last season the SS only started singinging when we were six up - as the thread title said 'shite support'.

I'll support them through good and bad - people like you will get on their case when we're struggling - now thats pathetic!!

Well said that man.

It's the goons out on the pitch that should be getting us excited, NOT the other way round.

They were pathetic yesterday, beaten by the second worst team in the league and Tw@ts like the opening poster EXPECT us to applaud every lousy f***ing one of them.

f***ing discgrace. Not the fact we lost, but our goons didn't even look like they wanted to. That's what grates.

They are professional sportsmen, that is their career. their employers, the club, will lose many thousands of £'s of potential income following this cup exit. That's not just from a cup rum but also those fans who have come along and will now feel that the season is over.

I don't go there to slag off the team but i do pay my money to be entertained and to see planty of effort. it's hard to cheer when there's nothing to cheer.

....and yet supporters try to encourage the team any way.

Totally agree that the game was dire, but my feeling is that if I encourage them they might improve. If I slag them off, I know they won't.

As the reggae song on another thread says:

"In every game we have some trouble
When you boo you make it double
Don't worry, stop whinging...... "

I suppose everyone that turns up has the right to do whatever they want, but it would be a lot more enjoyable for EVERYONE if all got behind the team, at least during the match. Going to Withdean is shite, not because of the stadium but because of the crowd.

But you don't boo the waiter if he brings you the wrong meal either.

Although that would be hilarious.
