Five Live reported that Disney might be in a position to take over. Next thing you know, it will be the "Mickey Mouse Premiership"

Sky can't have all their footie anyway, they've already got the maximum they're allowed next season.

The few games Shitanta do have would have to be broadcast by somebody else if they were to sell them off/give them away. And do you think it'll be to a free to air broadcaster? Will it balls

That can't be right, Banana TV tried to come to a deal with Sky for money in return for some prem games, so they must be able to take more.

I should imagine Eastbourne Borough (and other BS premiership clubs) are cacking themselves. They have already invested heavily for next season by their standards and no doubt Setanta income would have been in their budget. Anyone know how much it's worth to clubs in this league?

BBC SPORT | Football | Non League | Conference fears Setanta collapse

A minumum of £70k
£8k for a home game on telly, £3k for an away game on telly - at least 2 live games a season per club.
I would have thought smaller teams like Eastbourne and Histon will be hit HARD.

:bigwave:

Reading through Digital Spy, it appears Setanta Sports and it's channels will be gone from midnight :wave:

Yay isn't it great when businesses go tits up and people lose their jobs at difficult times like these?? Twat. Just because their camera angles weren't as good as sky's?

Personally I think its sad - a business that started over 20 years ago because some lads in London wanted to watch Republic of Ireland WCQ's at a pub and they ended up really making a go of it.

People make a lot of this "having to pay extra" thing, but thats a load of bollocks. Why should SKY have the monopoly of pay TV?? If you wanted, you could subscribe to Setanta INSTEAD of Sky Sports (or even sky), I know people that do. Once the market opened for pay-extra channels to show football (which believe it or not, Sky is one of them), why should other channels not join in the game.

Ah well, long as someone snaps up the SPL and Magners League...

Didn't the Blue Sq teams learn nothing from the ITV Digital debacle about not relying on TV money?

Thing is though, bar several cases of administration, everyone survived that didn't they?

A number of Scottish Premierships looking a bit worried. Some (already doing badly) are looking at a 20% fall in income.

Well, I will miss Setanta, used to get it free with my Virgin media package. Liked the IPL, aussie rugby league and the boxing, as well as the footy. Not quite sure why anyone, other than Sky, should be celebrating it's demise. :tosser:

I got it free as well. Will virgin offer anything to replace it?

If I remember correctly the setanta package was added to XL as a "replacement" to the sky basics which are now back, so they will be under no obligation to give replace the loss of the Setanta channels.
