It was me. But I also pointed out that the reason I moved was purely financial and with two kids I couldn't afford a big enough house in Tooting - so, the complete opposite of "not being able to afford to move out" - I could no longer afford to live in an area "flooded with immigrants" .

I also pointed out that I would have no objection whatsoever if white people were in a minority in my neighbourhood; my sole concern is whether they're good neighbours or not, not whether they're white, black or purple. But as my views don't fall in with bushy's, they're automatically discounted.

Ooh, this is an almost identical situation to me. Lived in Tooting (Broadway, the "scummy" bit) for about eight years, but had to move out because we couldn't afford to buy a house. (Also lived in Leytonstone for three years when a student). Where I now live is very different, culturally, but I seem to get on very well with my white neighbours now, as I did my Asian and Polish neighbours back in Tooting. Hey, but then maybe it's because I'm not a twat.
