Yes, that was on the news yesterday.

Don't understand about the face mask bit. I thought we were one of the countries saying they were pretty much useless.

They are a placebo measure and only a limited number available by prescription only, more money in the kitty!

People worried even over here and have already boycotted buying pork?
So on Saturday I shall go to the butchers and buy a whole pig, chopped and prepared for freezer for about $60.00, less than half price.
Any chance of sheep fever next as I could eat lamb all day, it's my favourite.

I was worried, because my nature is too worry. I don't think its as bad as they are making out, its the bloody media putting scare stories out. The main culprits are SKY, they absolutely love to hype things up.

This morning, I have heard of no one else getting Swine Flu, all I have heard is that the level has been raised to 5

Think about this, how many people live in the world? And how many people actually have Swine Flu and how many people have other types of flu.

What is very reassuring is that we are very well prepared in this country. Now while the wanker Tories and everyone else keeps trying to knock Brown off his perch, one thing Labour have done is to make sure nearly everyone can get Tamiflu if needed. I don't know who told me, but apparently the UK & France are the most prepared and organised for this.

Dont know if this has been said yet, but swine flu is a mixture of the famous 'bird flu', 'swine flu' and 'normal flu. WHO is worried because of this because it has bird flu in it and is now spreading from human to human for the first time.

I also thought this was interesting about tamiflu.

Gilead is fortunate to have had Don Rumsfeld as a stalwart board member since the company's earliest days, and we are very pleased that he has accepted the Chairmanship,

Swine flu is apparently far less virulent than bird flu even, so it's going to be fine. Yes some people will get it, but very few if any of them in this country will die. We are probably more prepared than any other nation on earth for something like this.

Depends entirely on which mask you use. The surgical masks being worn by many are useless.

The key to success of Tamiflu or Relenza is that its administered within the frst day of symptoms being discovered.

Only 7 confirmed deaths in Mexico so far from swine flu.

Also 36,000 die every year in the USA from normal flu so no need to panic.

Classic example of being worried about the wrong thing. Try Yellowstone!

But you knew EXACTLY what I meant

So the WHO are wrong to go to level 5?
The governments are wrong to say "we are the best prepard..."?

Yes human flu kills 36.000 people every year in the US. Human flu mainly kills the very young and the very old or week. Sad i know.
This flu kill young, old, middle agged, week and healthy it no's no bounds. Also this flu go from animal to human to animal. This alows it to mutate into other things wich POTENTIALY can become alot more deadly.

It can take up to 5 days to test wether somebody has died from this 'mexican flu' (because IT IS NOT SWINE FLU!). Mexico is in shut down at the moment. Also it can take 5 days for somebody to realise they have it. So, nobody realy knows the numbers.

The spanish flu of 1918 is similer, which is why they are worried.

1918 flu pandemic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1918 flu pandemic (commonly referred to as the Spanish flu) was an influenza pandemic that spread to nearly every part of the world. It was caused by an unusually virulent and deadly Influenza A virus strain of subtype H1N1. Historical and epidemiological data are inadequate to identify the geographic origin of the virus.[1] Most of its victims were healthy young adults, in contrast to most influenza outbreaks which predominantly affect juvenile, elderly, or otherwise weakened patients.

Also, be aware that 'spanish flu' did not start to kill until the autum. and lasted until 1920.

I would recommend, just buying some tinned food and lost fo water.

Hope im wrong and then i can get flammed. Nothing wrong with being prepard!

Well?

It's a simple yes or no (with poll). Drop the bravado and give an honest answer.

Personally I am worried about it, but then I worry about EVERYTHING.

And so you should, the 'X-file men' who control/protect the planet earth have created the credit crunch to slow down the rampant consummerism that was depleting the planets resources, the next part is to thin the population back to manageable numbers ..........be worried.

We are one of the best prepared countries in the world. i.e stocks of tamiflu etc. This flu is not like that of our usual winter flu. We as yet do not know how virulent it is. Good news is so far it seems to be mild. The deaths in Mexico could be due to local factors i.e an additional local level infection. Or due to less medical care i.e people are waiting longer to see Drs etc or not all.

I’ve seen the leaflets that will be sent out to every household very shortly.

Key messages, the flu virus cannot be contained. But its spread can be slowed if we all follow good hygiene practices.

Symptoms are sudden onset of fever, cough or shortness of breath. Other symptoms can include headache, sore throat, tiredness etc

see DH home : Department of Health
If you have the symptoms stay at home………don’t be a twat and struggle in. Yes, you might fight it off, but spreading it to someone whose immune system is weaker might kill them

Look out for your friends, neighbours and the elderley. Esp singletons. They tend to fall ill and cannot get out to see GP/A&E etc and obtain drugs. (My friend died this way)

Make flu friends. So that you can obtain drugs for them if they are too ill.

The swine flu information line 0800 1 513 513 will provide updated information on swine flu and at a suitable time inform on how to obtain antiviral drugs etc

Remember tamiflu needs to be taken within 48 hours of symptoms first showing for it to be effective

It pisses me off that no sooner than this shit emerges in the news, it already spreads to other countries. If a country like Mexico was completely shut down as soon as they were found to have the problem, then wankers traipsing back to their respective homes wouldn't be carrying the shit all over the World.
Humans are supposed to be smart but they still allow this to happen. Stupid, stupid human ****s.

The child who died from swine flu in Texas was 23 months old.

The World Health Organisation have said that a pandemic of swine flu is imminent.

I have a 23 month old son.

I would admit to the smallest frisson of concern.
