With Madrid and Spurs being his two previous clubs he will definitely be on money that is at least in line with our highest earners, probably more. The Spurs fans i know seem to think he's decent going forward but has fallen out of favour because his defending/positioning is very suspect. As a LWB he's maybe be a good option, but not so much as a left back in a back 4. I feel we'll want someone who can do both.

Me too. But in terms of positioning (and this is an absolute skill), I struggle to think of many Brighton players who were as good as Cucu. That was his key talent as far as I concerned. He was always in the right place at the right time and had the pace to get himself there if he wasn’t. We’ll not find another player like him for under £40m.

I'd imagine Spurs would help with a percentage of his salary as the big 6 clubs have to quite often these days with players they're actively trying to shift due to the high wages they pay. They just need him off the books and this is where our good relationship with them might come in handy?

Spurs have gone big and early on incoming's this summer which is most unlike them and they're now left trying to get rid of the players they don't want with not long left to do it. If we do want him as a player and he wants to come, financially I think we could make it work. He's being strongly linked with Barca and Sevilla too and we're better off than both of them!

They owe us. We made the Biss deal very easy for them. It’s not like we got Cucu-level money for a player equally as effective. We could have held back to the last day of this window (like I think we’re doing with Maupay).

This rumour has come around again.

Its come round again but not because there is anything new to report.
the only mention in this piece about the forgotten spurs quartet is a reference to the apparent failed bid earlier this month where Albion "expressed an interest" - https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...dombele-winks-reguilon-lo-celso-b1017933.html
which on the recycled twitter accounts today has now become "reignited interest" and "fresh interest" when of course The Standard don't say that at all.

Because Biss had 1 year left on his contract and Cucurella had 4 years.

Makes sense in terms of his very high quality prior to being turned all spursy.

The problem is the salary. Surely he was on £100k+ pw?

They pay the lowest salaries out of the Big Six though so if he we offered a salary equivalent to Lallana/Dunk money…..????

From a quick google and looking at 2-3 different pages it seems he's on around 50k a week.

Ndombele on the other hand is on 200k!!!

Come on pal, stop believing everything you read. A Man City fan told me last season that Foden was on about 15k a week to keep his feet on the ground. The fact he believed that nonsense was staggering to me, how can you be so naive?

Realistically, I think Reguilon would be an incredible signing based on his pedigree, just as Martin Montoya was. I think Reguilon would be more Montoya than Cucurella, but I definitely think he'd be a good player for us on the right deal with realistic sell-on value based on his age and being Spanish. There's a quality player in him for sure.

We are covered in most areas across the pitch in any formation except at LB. Any new signing will be ready for first team action or U21 with lots of potential. I don't see any point in another loan unless we also have the missing piece in the background waiting for his chance

Tis sounds to me one of those rumours that Not Andy Naylor calls '2 + 2 + 5' - journo presumes we are looking for a left back because we have sold Cucurella, thinks 'who has a surplus left back?' and links him with us. Taking no notice of Potter saying we're okay with our existing options.

The first journalist to report it is basically the Spurs equivalent of Naylor. He’s also now reporting that he’s one of 4 players not training with the first team as they try and sort moves for them. I’d suggest the rumour has legs, although obviously he might not want to come here.

Another loan perhaps? Until we get a more permanent LWB.

You wonder whether Potter saying we have options to cover Cucurella's departure is said in part to give the impression we are not desperate (even if - potentially - Potter IS desperate).

I think with 5 subs there's plenty of opportunity to bring on the likes of Undav, Mitoma, Sarmiento and Enciso who can get forward and stretch play. We definitely need a left-back who is primarily a pacy LB first and a LWB second.

Reguilon was excellent for Spurs in his first 20-odd appearances but regressed. Maybe once the VT was in circulation other coaches worked out his weaknesses and exploited them.

I wouldn't be unhappy with Reguilon, I think the Albion would have to be a realistic option for him and as a Spanish speaker he will not be short of teammates in that regard. Reguilon has said he'd never played LWB before Conte's arrival, and Conte clearly prefers Sessegnon who is more of a threat in and around the box. Reguilon also said it was difficult for him to play the full 90 minutes bombing up and down, running 11 kilometres per match.

Again, I think it is an option for Potter to sign Reguilon, maybe give him 70-75 mins per match to use his energy to the optimum, then bring on a Solly March / Mitoma / Sarmiento for the remainder of the game. Reguilon was La Liga's LB of the season for Sevilla prior to joining Spurs, so he is no mug. I'd also add that Conte puts high demands on his full-backs, and even the likes of Doherty who excelled at Wolves couldn't cut it under Conte.

The more I type the better signing it feels.

Be a great singing if it happens.

GPott mixes up his teams and formats as we know and he'd be an experienced PL player which could could slot in when needed.

Can only see this happening on a loan with Spurs covering some of his wages - question is will he be that interested if he's only here for a season? For me if we could secure him permanantly on a reasonable wage definately yes, on loan? Not for me

To me this is as good a replacement for cucu as we are going to get this summer. He has the experience, pedigree and we’ve seen him bomb forward in attack. Is he as good defensively I’m not so sure. However, if we can get him here on a 4 year deal for £25-30 million that would be decent business.

That would smash our current record transfer fee, would be disappointed if it was on a LB.

An expensive (by our standards) player who possibly doesn’t even want to come here? Not for me Clive

The original article posted by a Spurs site would suggest we would be low down his list of preferences, if so I hope we have walked away
