[Albion] Sensible, cheap and realistic solutions to the evening travel "issues".

I know we've sort of done this ad nauseum but given the recent (apparent) horror of an 8pm Saturday game, the half empty stadium during the closing stages of a vital game on Tuesday and the whinging that the new fanzone won't help evening travel surely the collective NSC minds can come up with actual solutions? I think everyone wants to see a full stadium with most people cheering on the team until the final whistle so there has to be a way.
So let's say you can spend £10m what would you do given:
There are usually parking spaces available up to the day of the game,
You can't increase the amount or length of trains,
Buses and bus drivers don't grow on trees,
It will always take a fair while to clear 30,000 people

Ideally no comments about a monorail, zip wire or waterslide. Come on, your are PB, you have £10m what would you realistically do?

14,000 persons per hour? Got to be worth a look...

1. More buses. Pay more and they will turn up. It’s worth it.
2. A big ugly roof over the P&R queue bit next to Bennett’s Field. Or make it look nice, like a pergola or an arcade or something. Anything, just stop so many old people shivering their poor arses off for 45-60 minutes at 10.30pm in January. Then stick some beer garden heaters under it in the winter.
3. Do something about that sagging Meccano bridge at the station before it collapses onto the track because a bunch of polyester-stretching Wolves fans all jump up and down at once. Actually that area would seriously benefit from a roof too.

Any or all of the above would cost less to implement than the purchase price of Moises Caicedo’s left testicle. Do it Tony.

An appetite to improve, sadly lacking both by club and railways ie nothing will change, pointless thread. Done to death.
But you're not offering up any realistic solutions. We know there isn't the rolling stock or employees to offer too many more trains. What would you actually do if you're PB? He can't magic up trains.

Good luck getting those big boys through the tunnel

On a serious note, leave it as it is. Most of the time it's not that bad, or there are reasons behind it being a shitshow. I used the Bridge for the first time in years on Tuesday night and getting out took about an hour. I didn't really mind because a) we'd won b) the blurb had said it could take a while and c) there's no easy way to get that many cars out of that car park and onto the main roads.

P&R is generally OK and, while I've not used the trains in a while, they were fine if you timed it right. Getting 30K people out of one place at once is never going to be easy. I'd go so far as to say there IS not simple solution.

I sort of agree with you (I don't personally have a huge issue with it) but it's clearly putting enough people off that it's a bit of an issue - time for those people to offer realistic solutions that would make them come and stay till the end (or at least nearly the end).

The land of chocolate
For the last home game I caught the 49 to the ground and walked from Bolney Road as the 25 was full. There were only about half a dozen other Albion fans on board which surprised me. I suspect this bus route is very under-utilized and I think this is partly down to the extra 500m walk from the Bridge to the bus stop. I'd reconfigure the Bridge car park to have a turning circle for buses at the bottom and extend the 49 to there on matchdays. People are prepared to walk to the Bridge to their cars, so they'd probably walk to catch a bus from there too. The frequency is up to 6 an hour so it could conceivably take several hundred supporters. Might need to add a passing point in Lucraft Road too, as it's pretty narrow.

The arse end of Hangleton
Bring the capacity of P&R Mill Road back to the capacity when we had bendy buses, possibly even more. According to a B&H Buses representative the club pay for number of vehicles ( allegedly 12 across both sites ) and not capacity. Load multiple buses at the SAME time and teach the stewards traffic management - they're useless after a match.
