Cant see the validity of it really, pay 500 qd for the right to sell your seat to someone which if youre a stalwart supporter you are never gonna do anyway and 500 qd is steep beyond belief with no other discernable benefit attached.

In the small print it says the PSL also entitles you to transfer individual match tickets. Does this mean without a PSL this is not allowed, and the only way to have friends occasionally use a season ticket is to have a PSL??

I think that needs to clarified as surely if you cannot make a game you can transfer the ticket to someone else or only if you have PSL ?

Sounds like a bit of a con to me. If you are paying by direct debit and it keeps on rolling each month, your not going to lose your seat. If you snuff it and another family member or friend wants it, just keep paying the direct debit from a different account.
DD, nah, cash on the nose :smokin:

I'm sure I have answered this before!

Anyway, with or without a PSL tickets can be transferred for an admin fee. Obviously if you trust the person concerned with your smart card the admin fee can be bypassed.

Sorry must have missed it, cheers

So if you buy a PSL for £495, and it lasts for 50 years, at some point when the Albion are enjoying success at levels we can only currently dream of, then there may well be an active market in the PSLs as a financial instrument in their own right. If we do well, they'll attract a premium. If we don't do well, you'll be able to pick one up on the cheap. And the club makes money (7.5% or £50 whichever is greater) on every transaction. Not much different from trading in pork belly futures. Well worth a punt IMHO - if you have that kind of cash sloshing about in your current account.

I think this is what its all about, basically if we are doing well and competing in the premiership / upper championship there could well be a waiting list for Season tickets, this is when your PSL could become worthwhile (providing you are willing to sell of course).

It is a way for someone that isn't a Season ticket holder and wanting one without joining a 'potentially' long waiting list to pick one up providing they are willing to pay for it on the PSL market and also gives PSL holders a chance to gamble on these and maybe make some money from this too as well as providing extra funds for the club. It isn't just about being able to pass tickets onto friends or family or thats my understanding

It is something some of the PL and champioship clubs have introduced and it would be interesting to see if they have proved worthwhile investments and how much they are being traded for.

The other question is presumably this is not a one off that has to be done at the time of purchase and that you have the option to buy a PSL at anytime ?

I would imagine that there is potentially excess demand for Season tickets at Falmer for some areas of the ground like the North Stand or on the half way line, if we are doing well and someone doesn't want to renew any more (for whatever reason) if they had a PSL they could trade the rights for that seat and maybe make a decent profit but its a gamble

I'm thinking that is how the club are thinking.

Hardly a comparison is it.

There are some 30 odd NFL teams in an enormous country whereas there are far more "soccer" teams per person in the UK

It wasn't supposed to be a true comparison but a rough idea how it would work, I have yet to find an example for an English club

Funnily enough nor have I, do you think we are the first to do this ?

Box bumph says 'They [PSL] are becoming extremely popular in football, and have been adopted by clubs across Europe in recent years, including a number of Premier League and Championship clubs'.
