Read the bumpf that came in the pack but couldn't see what the actual benefit is of the seat for life? Does it mean you will automatically be entitled to use it if there are other events at Falmer, i.e. Concerts, England U21s etc?

Sorry if fixtures.

Not knocking it for the sake of it but £500 to pass it on to a relative or friend seems a little steep?

Sadly this is why we have to attend the Amex to get our season tickets. We will have to watch a "timeshare" like presentation to try & get us to part with £495 for not very much.

Sorry to be cynical but this is sadly how the club will become as we move into the new commercial era.

Seems pointless to me as well. Kind of like a poor mans 1901 without any of the benefits.

Does seem a bit pointless to me. If you buy a season ticket each year then you don't actually need one unless you like a gamble that in years to come it will be worth a lot more and you no longer want your seat/ a season ticket for what ever reason. Family will still pass on tickets if their is a waiting list.

I await being told why I should part with my cash though

Perhaps the club will arrange for you to be mummified, then brought out for every game, if you don't outlive the 50 years.

Can't really see an investment side to it either, if, and it's a big IF, we regularly sell out we'll extend the ground, if, after that, we regularly sell out seats MAY sell at a premium at which point we'll be winning the Premiership and in the Champions League ... and I wouldn't want to sell my seat. If, on the other hand, it allowed priority access to other events and reduced the cost of a season ticket over say a 10 year period, as a hook, I'd be right up for it.

If it guarantees I live for 50 years, it's got to be worth it.

Sadly chap you and I aren't really going to put all our chips on us reaching another 50 seasons!

the scheme is designed to deal with long waiting lists for ST's. You 'cannot' pass on your ST to someone else unless you have the PSL for it. So basically it comes down to whether you think there will be a waiting list or not.........

As I posted on another thread...

Surprised that nobody seems to have picked up on the 'trading' aspect of the PSL. The pack mentions that the PSLs can be bought and sold on a dedicated website page. On the illustration page they show asking prices ranging from £1250 thru £5700. So if you buy a PSL for £495, and it lasts for 50 years, at some point when the Albion are enjoying success at levels we can only currently dream of, then there may well be an active market in the PSLs as a financial instrument in their own right. If we do well, they'll attract a premium. If we don't do well, you'll be able to pick one up on the cheap. And the club makes money (7.5% or £50 whichever is greater) on every transaction. Not much different from trading in pork belly futures. Well worth a punt IMHO - if you have that kind of cash sloshing about in your current account.

The implication, and I stress this is an implication as I have no hard evidence, is that we may not all be guaranteed renewal rights on our season ticket. Say you are lucky enough to secure the front seats halfway line in top tier West Stand which in my view are the best value seats in the Amex, what is to stop someone buying the "seat for life" from 2012/13 onwards? The club gets £495 extra so its no skin off their nose.

Like I say, I am only speculating here but it could happen.glare:

Sounds like a bit of a con to me. If you are paying by direct debit and it keeps on rolling each month, your not going to lose your seat. If you snuff it and another family member or friend wants it, just keep paying the direct debit from a different account.

In the small print it says the PSL also entitles you to transfer individual match tickets. Does this mean without a PSL this is not allowed, and the only way to have friends occasionally use a season ticket is to have a PSL??

If the new season ticket is a swipe card, how they going to know? Can't see them wanting to ask people to show I.D. every time.
