Re: season t/h vs away supporters

:glare: What a nonsense is talked here. The ONLY solution should be as with all other clubs and indeed as it always was before ie., Season ticket applications in the first couple of days and then away supporters. We as season ticket holders support this clubs cash flow by stumping up big money months before the season starts, what cash for this club does away supporters produce? (perhaps a one off fee of £10).
I don't begrudge away supporters at all but when my 3 season tickets are rejected for Spurs yet one guy I know for a fact gets FOUR tickets and yet only has one season ticket.
I think the club has seen us off once again and for the first time in my 50 odd years of support (and financially) I am completely fed up.:nono:

Sorry, but I think you're wrong. There are other solutions and FCFS is one of them. I have a Spurs ticket but don't have a season ticket this year. If you would like to have a discussion on why you should get a ticket and I shouldn't, then let's do it. BUT saying I brought a season ticket this year isn't going to cut much mustard; just because I didn't buy one this season doesn't mean I haven't contributed to the club for many years and in ways that probably a price cannot be put on.

S.T.H.'s get first choice then, it's agreed.
END OF THREAD.

/me sighs. Here we go again.

Here is a question for you - my Mum likes going to the occasional away game - she has been to Millwall, West Ham and Watford this season. And yet hasn't been to a home game for 3 years as she can't get a ticket next to mine and doesn't want to go regular enough to warrant a season ticket.

She went to several games at the Goldstone as well as Gillingham once or twice. She listens to every game on SCR and I bought her a radio for Xmas so she can listen. Over the years, she has spent a lot of money with the club on Season Tickets for me when I was a kid as well as merchandise every year for my Birthday/Xmas etc.

Should she be allowed a Spurs Ticket? How regular is regular away supporter?. Vicarage Road isn't really a glamour ground but she went there. Are you going to make the criteria Sunderland or Crewe or Derby or Wolves?

Whatever scheme the club comes up with, people won't be happy. I had 2 Season Ticket holders complaining on Sunday that they missed out and why should they not get priority over away supporters who can't be arsed to come to Withdean when there are empty seats.

BTW - She did get a ticket as I knew the rules and got my application off early after checking every day knowing that it would sell out.

There is no real way to give out tickets that will please everyone. First come first served is the best way for now, it's not like we get too many games like Spurs. But when Falmer is built it should revert to STH's getting priority. Less people are likely to buy one for Falmer, as it will be easier to pay on the day. Priority to STH's might help boost sales.

OK, I've been drawn in. My two penneth.

I'm a season ticket holder and an AMS member. This season, I have been to Reading and Sunderland. A mate of mine who is also a STH and AMS got himself organised early on, sorted a group booking, and we got our Spurs tickets. We got lucky, but had we dipped out, well, so be it. I wouldn't see any reason to go whining to all and sundry about it.

We have, I suppose, about 3,000 - 4,000 STH's. As they have paid a large sum of money directly to the club, months in advance of the new season, it should really go without saying that STH's should get 1st priority on any "glamour games" that come up, such as Spurs. Like a home cup match, they should have a fixed period of time to claim a ticket, say 72 hours, or risk going in with everyone else if they go beyond that.

AMS members simply cannot be held in the same priority as STH's if they have not also got a season ticket. Paying a tenner three years ago to join the AMS is not enough to guarantee equal priority with a STH. Yes, many AMS members will have travelled the length and bredth of the country going to christ-knows how many away games, but it is unrealistic to expect the club to sift through a fistful of old ticket stubs to give some kind of priority to those who have been to the most away games. What are we doing - measuring milage travelled ? Is a Sheffield Utd ticket worth more "Karma Points" than a Leeds United ticket ? What about midweek aways ? Are Fizzy Cup games worth more ? It would be an absolute minefield, and cause even more argument and ill feeling.

Keep. It. Simple.

STH's should get 3 days to claim their ticket. All applications received within those 3 days from STH's are processed and get their tickets sent out.

Next are AMS members - tickets processed in order of the date of receipt. Once all the tickets are gone, if there are some AMS members who dip out, well, thats life innit. Luck of the draw and all that. Shit happens. Deal with it. Its a ticket for a football match, not a ticket to a spaceshuttle prior to the Earth exploding. Some people might be more "deserving" according to milage travelled, but its ridiculous to expect the club to administer some hugely complex system of allocation when people would STILL be arguing the toss about it anyway.

The bottom line is - there are ALWAYS going to be disappointed punters when it comes to fixtures like this. Supply and demand dictates that. But the priorities must be kept simple, or the whole system would collapse under a mountain of paperwork and bickering over who-deserves-what. Just accept there is an element of LUCK involved in ALL ticket applications, and we can all get on with worrying about something more worthwhile.

To be honest i think this is all slightly academic as I can't see the club bringing in any priority scheme for the forseeable future due to cost.

That is unless anyone can think up a free way of doing it or the fan's run the scheme (the later would be a bit tricky to arrange, I imagine !).

Spot on! Easy. I would agree with that even if I wasn't a S.T.H. The club has to look after the people who look after it!

OK i'll run it. And a quick message to all those with Spurs tickets, i'll be putting all your names in a hat and picking 2 out who'll now miss the game so i can have them :lolol:

How about this order of priority:

-Season ticket holders that go to all away games
-Season ticket holders
-AMS members

You get a guaranteed ticket for every home game. That's it. That is exactly what a season ticket is.

THAT'S BECAUSE I'VE GIVEN THE CLUB £415 IN AUGUST. AND i'VE ALREADY PAID FOR NEXT SEASON. AND THE SEASON AFTER THAT. AND WE WON'T EVEN START ON THE SEASON TICKETS i'VE BOUGHT SINCE 1995.

But that's counts for f*** all at this club when the crunch comes.

I posted the application on 8 December and got a "Dear AMS member" letter from Mr perry on the 23rd. That's 15 days to not process a ticket application.
