Maybe not but there have been enough others on the sharing shambles. Barber would have come out with a robust defence of it at some point (again)

Not if a few big curly 'W's' appear in the home column.

I'm not saying we're all fickle...

...oh no wait, that's EXACTLY what I'm saying.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, after all we're fans, we're there to see our team win.

When 'we' win we are all happy and eager to return for more.

Sorry - I'm struggling with time again today, but I wanted to just pick up on a point that you raise which comes up quite often, generally as a stick to hit the club with.

Fans v Customers

Firslty, I don't think these are mutually exclusive.

To treat someone purely as a fan recognises, using your supermarket analogy, the fan can't bin off their choice (Tesco) for another one (Sainsburys). And if you know someone doesn't have a choice, the relationship can be exploited in many ways, including price (high( and service offering (low). And, traditionally in football, that was how it was. Fans were often treated like shit, because clubs knew they'd keep coming back, week after week.

To treat someone as a customer recognises that every element of the "product" and the "experience" offered should be as good as possible. It recognises that customers DO have a choice, and that repeat custom should not be taken for granted.

I'm going to struggle slightly to tie this back to the supermarket analogy, I think, but we DO have a choice. We all choose how we utilise two of our limited resources: leisure time and disposable income.

If a BHAFC customer becomes significantly disenchanted with what they are receiving from the club, they can choose to apportion less time and money going to games. In an extreme example, they could stop going completely. They'd remain a fan, I think - that bond just doesn't go - but they'd cease to become an active customer for a period of time, possibly forever.

And that's where treating fans as customer should work in our favour - the club has an ongoing incentive to not rest on its laurels and continually strive to improve the fan/cusomer experience.

Fair points all.

But if you are fan of the Albion, you don't have an alternative option. Tescos and Sainsburys are very much of a muchness and I could buy my coffee from either. Sure I could go to the Nye Camp and watch the Rocks but it isn't a straight comparison.

I could choose to apportion less time to the club but I love going to the Amex and the buzz of the game. If the club's actions take this away from me, it would become an involuntary decision on my part. I don't want this.....

I'm amazed the West Ham owners and directors still go to the games what with their box being stormed every home game.

Nobody is saying you have a choice over allegiance but that you have a choice over how much of your time and money you allocate to the Albion.

As Bozza suggested, being a fan and a customer are not mutually exclusive. By treating us if we have a choice, we have one of the better matchday experiences (football aside at the moment), padded seats, decent beers and pies. The alternative will be to pay the same and get plastic bottles of carling and soggy pukka pies or worse. Maybe no interest free credit for the cost of the season or the travel scheme!!

I remember when fans were just treated as idiots that would keep coming back for more. Garbage food and pitchside fencing etc etc. I know which I prefer.

8pm KO on Boxing Day has not gone down well at home but I am going. Wife's family visiting and knew I could retrieve some house points by taking her brother ( Rotherham ST holder ) to football with me. No tickets available in my section and whilst may not agree can understand why ticket exchange will not open while 500 club seats available. However I know many near me not going and happy to give me ticket but not willing to pay to join scheme. Of course would also have to tell wife's brother he has to become an Albion member.
I have not given up as working on somebody agreeing to transfer their ticket by phone What a faff

My concern is the club may write off lower attendances as being down to covid when a reasonable amount is due to the sharing scheme. In my own situation there certainly would’ve been higher attendance without this scheme.

Your last sentence probably hit the nail on the head. I go with 10 season ticket holders, only two have enrolled in sharing scheme. If the others can't go on occasions then the seat is empty. Historically they nearly always passed it on. This is being replicated across the stadium, don't know how much but its happening because I've asked people.

Hmm.

“Fear porn”

“Only a cold”

And you specifically posted you wouldn’t go because of vaccine passports.

Very hard, then, to take the rest seriously

The scientist who discovered this new variant said it was like a cold. You can’t read very well, can you?

I haven’t used a vaccine passport.

But don’t let that stop you from bringing up grievances from almost a year ago. What an embarrassment.

Couldn’t give a shit if you don’t think what I said was serious, many others agree with what I’ve said though. Of course I was serious.

Weren’t you one of the ones that wouldn’t this ticket scheme to come in? :dunky:

I'm staggered that it has taken 10 years for your mate to realize the away fans are at the other end!!

The away fans bit was to do with how I feel the experience at The Amex could be better, that wasn’t mentioned with regard to my mate. For the first few seasons it was great to just have a ground, the excitement was there to keep the atmosphere going, but without that I really miss the interaction with the away fans. From my seat in the North Stand it’s almost as if the away fans aren’t even in the ground, it shouldn’t be like that. Instead of having one big football atmosphere, we have two smaller ones that can barely hear eachother.

Speaking to a Crystal Palace ST holder today he said no problem if we cant go we just screenshot QR code and send it to person giving ticket to

No, far to simple for us. There has to be an exchange of money somewhere along the line, 10’s of pounds in fact.

About 4 or 5 Albion fans told me so on this very forum a few months ago. Oh, how enlightened and correct they were. Silly me.

Yeah it's nothing like the good old days when we all sung our heads off and made the ground an intimidating Calderon of noise.

Is that all they said? It is like a cold in that both are corona viruses. Did he say that people shouldn't get vaccinated then?
Because, if he didn't, it infers it will hospitalise and kill unvaccinated people. Unlike a cold.

That’s me chucking my season ‘ticket’ in then

Looks like you didn't and that you are currently breaking club ground entry conditions as a result.

Weren’t you one of the ones that wouldn’t this ticket scheme to come in? :dunky:

Again, in English please.

Because of this thread have just looked at WeAreBrighton site. I thought there was an excellent article commenting on PB dismissing any criticism

It’s an excellent response (to PB’s response)….difficult to disagree with any of it

https://www.wearebrighton.com/newso...bait-is-a-worrying-path-for-brighton-to-take/

He hasn’t read the room on this one, at the very least using an inappropriate turn of phrase.

A plethora of life long supporters raising real concerns, was not in any way:

“clickbait

Agreed. It’s a breathtakingly arrogant dismissal of fan’s views IMO…………to think people got narked at Potter reacting to a few boos. This is hugely worse IMO. Could be assumed he actually doesn’t give a **** what fans think.

There are a whole load of supporters here such as you who I genuinely can’t recall complaining before, always positive about the club, player recruitment, GP, TB and never on PB’s case. But just this once, not on this matter.

The CEO should genuinely listen, engage.

Perhaps he’s punch drunk after 9 years of dealing with serial whingers? Unable to discern wheat from the chaff.

The club will gain by acting, they’ll see and hear crowds close to capacity.

Very charitable of you……9 years of 2-page monologues responding to questions about bottle tops and flasks have clouded his judgement somewhat :lolol:

When we’re back to normal he see how wrong he’s got this with swathes of empty seats he won’t be able to explain. Such a shame - it’s not even that difficult to fix.

Or win a few more games.

Either or really - simple as that.
