Seagulls, you made heavy work of that...

Sweetheart, the use of the word 'champions' was fitting at the end of last season. I, and other Saints, took our hats off to the Albion for what was a very good season. Truly. However, to keep singing that song and banging that drum so long after the event is, well, sad. If you had continued the same form and were now sitting proud at the top of div 2 with us then maybe. I would stop singing it if I was you. Maybe putting so much store in being champions of div 3 halters you in div 2 ?

It's only 7.20pm over here and I'm frankly struggling to stay awake...someone make this buzzing noise go away

Top of the league now means f*** all.

As I recall Blackpool were top of the premiership last season - only briefly but they were top.

You won't be there at the end of the season but you carry on while I doze off won't you !!

Yes ok, the reason we are not top of the Championship is because we are so preoccupied with our achievements of last season. And of course we sing 'Champions' in every game, not just against the team whose manager suggested (probably quite rightly, when you think about it) that it should have been us chasing you. Exactly. And you took your hats off to us for winning the league and having a 'very good season'? I thought winning the Lg 1 championship meant f*** all? (See one of your previous posts). Shouldn't you be getting ready for the Champions League, rather than bothering yourself with little old Brighton?

Ok.
You still lost the other week though.

I, and other Saints, took our hats off to the Albion for what was a very good season.
I must've missed that. Really, the only thing I've encountered from Southampton since we started pulling away last season is bile. I'm not accusing you of this, I don't know you at all, but from living in the Southampton area, I can tell you that there's a group of Saints fans who seem desperate to make Southampton - Brighton into some kind of bitter rivalry. Do some of our fans rise to it? Yes, and I find it just as pathetic when they do it.

I know this is a bit of a tangent, but last time I went out wearing my Brighton top, some guy shouted gay shit at me and it pissed me off. It's all fun and games having banter with you guys on the internet or with Saints mates, but really now. We need to draw a line and it needs to be before abuse on the street.

But on topic, that was the worst performance I've seen from Brighton since... the game at SMS actually.

Oh the irony.

It's midnight on a Wednesday evening, and having spent almost 3 hours watching our game on the box, you're sat on our forum replying to 40 odd posts, about a game which didn't even affect your side. What a joyous life you must lead.

Remind me, the next time you struggle to beat a well organised side, to sign up to saintsweb and spend my evening on there. I love a good night out me.

I wanted to be entertained. And watching a bunch of half-arsed-couldnt-give-a-fek-because-the-pay-cheque-has-cleared munchkins attempt to take on a gutsy, well ordered, well disciplined team comprised of better footballers who want it more - was good entertainment! That is what the Challenge Cup is all about.

It looked like they gave a fek when they smashed saints the other week & Wrexham put in a far better nights work than your mob did at the Amex.

Wrexham were quality & would have given any championship side a game last night, cruel way to go out for them after such a great performance but let's not forget the amount of injuries we've got at the minute, I'm sure if we'd have had nooney and or lua lua out wide it would have been a different story

'Lower league team raises game against higher league opposition on lower league's potato field' shocker

Coming next, ten men play well against opposition with no players sent off.

This is my point. You are not still champions. It is pathetic in the extreme to keep on banging on about how you won the third tier of English football. If you win the Prem or the Champions League then ok, fine. Otherwise it is like the biggest chap in the primary school playground swagger into the senior school playground and pretend he is something. It really is a meaningless badge.

Actually we are still Champions and it is the case for a couple more months after that yes dead and buried but for now you cannot change the facts and as Champions we will wallow in our glory as much as we like.

And for the record yes we were an embarrassment last night and it was a woeful performance that is best left in the past but we won so I will take it, have you ever scrapped a win you did not deserve?

Such a pointless thread.

Also, of course you don't care about what happened last season, because you failed! If you'd won the league your fans would definitely be reminding us at our games together.

You've started very well this season, but won absolutely nothing yet. See how it goes.

As others have said (think Man Utd vs Crawley), it's incredibly common to see a lower league team play their hearts out and give a bigger team a fright, especially on a shithouse pitch.

I was watching the match with a Wrexham fan in Ally Pally last night, and I wasn't even celebrating, we know we should have lost. Plenty of FL teams WOULD have lost that match yesterday, they were superb.

But what that has to do with Saints, I'm not sure. Obviously still very bitter that despite having by miles the biggest budget last season they still came a poor second.

And the best bit is yet to come this season. You're blowing it. They are reeling you in, and you know it.

Seagulls, peck me all to bits if you will, but you were outclassed tonight.

Wrexham were far and away the better team on the night; more determined, better skill, better everything.

Sometimes it may take an outsider to say it as it is: Brighton and Hove Albion were utter, utter pants tonight.

.. but for the luck of a pen-shoot out.

Honestly, I thought the lads in Red were the Championship team..

The only thing you've done right in your life is to move to a decent city. Having lived in soton I can only describe it as dirge, even some of the locals don't like it there. Wierd place with the ooh argh ooh argh accents. Feel privellaged my son to live here.
