He used to post as AlbionPics&SouthCoastTwit (or something like that), under which persona he claimed to be a British police officer living in Chicago on an exchange programme.

I think he's just one of those general wind-up merchants.

I remember that posting name and I will grant you that he and I had some very similar traits but I don't feel in anyway such as a police officer. I'm way too dishonest. I'm also starting to hear some pretty awful things about the police in Chicago, actually.

I do not belong to the Church of Scientology any longer. I'm much like the man in the documentary who worked for the church but because of it's practices in dealing with outsiders no longer wish to be associated with the church. I do believe in auditing the engrams of your life and freeing your thought processes to become enlightened as to the real world we all live in. I don't worship Cruise, Travolta, Elfman or Miscavige. I find Elfman to be an extremely interesting person because she plays parts that don't come near the intellect of the person she truly is. And she is sexually attractive. :)

Because of my enlightenment I feel free to have people think of me as weird or strange and feel nothing but agreement. I am weird and strange and different. I feel free to express myself in those terms. I feel that when the remainder of you can express yourself the same way I feel you will be less burdened by the need to conform to others expectations of you. This includes the expectations you feel because you "feel" love towards your spouse, children, parents, other relatives, friends, etc. When your days are unencumbered by the freedom from these expectations binded on you by people close to you or of your own blood---then, yes, then, you are truly enlightened.

I tried explaining to you why lack of evidence is not required for you to believe in something. You don't need evidence of love because you have experienced something you have labelled love. Same goes for people with religious beliefs. They have experienced something and thus they believe.

your arguement leads the to conclusion that god(s) does not exist, except in the minds and beliefs of those that believe.

You aren't making sense, so you agree with everything I've said about love? So still no evidence of God in that. Of course religion is taught,it is there to make people feel better and to try and understand death, the concept came about from small things like change in weather,Northern lights, crops growing etc and it has evolved from there which is why the older ancient religions (like hindu) have so many gods to try and give meaning to so many different natural occurrences, the pagan worshiped the sun and moon etc it evolved because it's a great way to control people and make them work and conform with the promise of an afterlife.

If religion is taught, how do you explain Christians in China, Russia & the Middle East, where Christianity is forbidden. There are many books written by people who became Christians, & managed to escape, or were killed for their beliefs.

I read an excellent book on LR Hubbub some years ago. Can't remember the author but it had the rather droll title "Bare-faced Messiah". if they haven't bought up and pulped all the copies; I commend it to you.

There is a form of State Christianity, which is allowed, where teaching and sermons have to be approved, but, believe me, proper belief is policed.

There are people who have become Christian without any teaching from their families or churches. You choose not to believe it, that's your choice.

Hubbard took most of his Scientology ideas straight from the pages of his crap science fiction.

On another note, when it comes to believing in religion, no side will change the other's mind. And if your mind can be changed from one thread on an Internet forum your belief probably wasn't there in the first place.

There are dozens of brands of Christianity, what is the core belief for you that makes you Christian?
If I become a DIY Christian, using my own interpretation of the Bible, as edited by the Roman Catholic branch, what does that make me?

The core belief for me is that Jesus is fully human, and fully God.

I don't know. I'm not a Roman Catholic.

Jesus is a historical person. Whether you believe what he said is a different matter, but historians agree that he existed at that point in time.
Jesus is not a person and never existed and until proved otherwise it's pointless worshipping someone that we have no real proof of...historians don't know and never will to be frank.Everyone to their own though :)

He was written about by Romans, written about by disciples and is possibly more reliably covered as being a real person than anyone else of the time, given the number of different sources. If Historians know anything of the time, it is that Jesus existed and created a following.

I think you will struggle to find any academic (or educated person in general) who doubts that a bloke called Jesus Christ existed.

There are more than enough near contemporaneous (within a few decades of his death) accounts of his life by non-Christian sources, such as famous Roman scribes (eg Tacitus), Greek scholars, Jewish historians, etc.

Certainly there's as much (if not more) 'evidence' for him having existed as there is for many/most other historical figures from 2,000+ years ago.

Anyone who thinks Jesus doesn't exist is as just barmy as anyone who thinks he was the Son of God imho.

I like Jesus, but I don't believe he was anything other than a man with a message, and that the message was pretty similar to that of Bill and Ted, Be excellent to each other.
