You're the same bloke who wrote this in the Jake Daniels thread:

So if you come out as gay in a place where it is fine to be gay, it's bad because the place gets a backlash.

And if you have gay symbolism in a place where it's illegal to be gay, it is bad because its not the culture of the place.

So where is it ok to be gay?

IMO it is very easy to get the impression that you simply don't like homosexuality.

Very good post. Nail on head.

Law of averages would suggest that there are some employees at St James Park that are members of the LGBTQ+ community and I wonder how they're feeling at the moment?

Probably a topic at the dinner table but generally speaking I think its like in most cases when you work for a big company with shady owners... as long as they don't show up every day, and your colleagues are nice and you can pay the rent and so on - might just shrug and get on with it.

NUFC have an LBGTQ+ supporters' group (United with Pride). They, of all people, had the chance to make a stand when the takeover happened.

However:

United with Pride released a statement on the day the takeover was completed, welcoming the new owners and expressing the hope that working with them could end up being "a positive influence to improving the conditions for the LGBTQ+ community in Saudi Arabia".

Where’s Geoffrey when you need him ?

Zippy and George are in the Science and Media museum in Bradford, I see them semi-regularly.

Yeah I'm sure the millions of oppressed people in these countries around the world who can't be themselves for risk of severe punishment agree with you.

Where's the thumbs down button when you need it?

Replaced by the opportunity to state one's criticism coherently (as you have done) rather than engage in low-rent cyber bullying

It's also their belief to cut limbs off adulterers and thieves, its also their belief to stone women to death for dressing too 'Western'. They need hauling into the 18thC let alone the 21st

Don’t think any stoning takes place does it . Bit of a myth .

Their punishments are harsh but crime rate extremely low. That’s a different arguement with capital punishment I guess .

Like I say , that’s how they do things . Don’t have to agree but they probably don’t agree with how others do it

Way of the world over there

Bit of a myth?
It either happens or it doesn’t. You can’t give someone “a bit of a stoning”

Do you think it’s okay for homosexuality to be a crime anywhere in the world?

Quite a bizarre attitude. Guess you'd have had the same 'laissez faire' feelings about the Nazis doing what they want as long as it's in their country!!!

Tbf if Nazi-Germany had just stayed at home, rather than doing all that invading, I'm not so sure anyone would have intervened with what they were doing.

Stoning is still legal in Saudi though is only occasionally used these days; they mainly rely on beheading and in March executed 81 people in one day for a range of 'crimes' including "participating in sit-ins and protests". Those executed are usually from the Shia minority. Toon Army...

"TBF"??? Why would anyone be fair about Nazi Germany! And besides Nazi doctrine was for the eradication of all Europe's jews not just those within the Third Reich. And invading neighbouring countries to create liebensraum for the master race was central to their entire philosophy. They left Sweden alone as long as it provided all the iron ore its war machine required.

Well, tbf in the context... not some sort of fairness directed to Nazi Germany. And yes I know about those things, but what I'm saying is that if they had "just" stayed at home killing German Jews, Romanis, homosexuals and others they didn't like, I'm not too sure anyone would have stopped them. Sweden-Germany relations were a bit more complex than that but essentially you're right.
