Tonight's episode was excellent imho. I have read the books, watched the documentary and thought this episode captured it all very well indeed. Love the interjection of real footage.
Read the Paddy Mayne biog, amazing man.I liked the first series, but think the second series is pretty poor.
I would happily shoot that Paddy bloke if he was in my regiment.
He was a fantastic man. Which is why it’s so terrible they have made him so one dimensional and unlikeable in the series.
I agree. I do wonder if the Peaky Blinders person has done any sig. background research into the formative yearsHe was a fantastic man. Which is why it’s so terrible they have made him so one dimensional and unlikeable in the series.
The new recruits are also unlikeable. Bad actors too.
But it’s Steven Knight who wrote Peaky Blinders, which is another f***ing awful program.
Both look like music videos. No depth.
And that bloody punk music. Ridiculous.
Why does Jack O Connell deliver every line as if it’s a hugely meaningful proclamation. In a rather odd Belfast accent.
From the (often repeated) trailer, I just can’t bring myself to watch it even though read several books on inc namesake title. It just comes across as total unauthentic bullshit style over substance rubbish. Seems current producers are too removed from ww2 / greatest generation to have any proper understanding of (or respect for). We’ve seen the last of the best films and programmes, anything new from this era is utter crap and also usually woked beyond credible. He was a fantastic man. 100%. I'd add to that and say that the series lacks any suspense, any credibility of the characters and seems to thrive on one man shouting and screaming all the fu****g time. Mayne was a strong character, but there were a load more who were equally strong, in different ways. That blond haired actor in it should try Eastenders or some plastic programme like it. The original documentary. This is episode 2 on YouTube but the full series (3 parts) is on Prime. The drama series doesn’t come close to telling the story as well as this.
you would shoot the man widely regarded as the founder of the S.A.S ?I liked the first series, but think the second series is pretty poor.

It’s not the obvious inaccuracy that makes me dislike it .I quite enjoyed it. It’s only a bit of fun. The opening titles make a point of saying it’s NOT a history lesson after all!
What’s your take on Playing Nice? I thought the end was absolute SHITE!It’s not the obvious inaccuracy that makes me dislike it .
It’s the ridiculous music, the poor pacing, the thinly fleshed out, one dimensional characters, the fact that they have made someone as briliant as Paddy Mayne into a shouty, dislikable thug. The bad acting. It’s a mess.
