Wow, that's NUTS. That's a coached thing that many. Imagine how crappy a manager you have to be to coach THAT instead of proper football tactics
Embarrassing isn't it ?

I've seen Villa and Fulham shithouse there way to a result at the Amex with numerous players feigning injury with a face-clutch. But Arsenal didn't do that so much. They just took an ETERNITY with every single dead ball. Corners especially, as they are supposedly the "experts" now. An arm raised, then another arm raised, then someone coming over for a chat. Throw-ins changing hands between players to take it. Goal kicks just taking forever.

And they are supposed to be challenging for the title ? Pffff.

Arsenal players did go down quite often, however, this 30 seconds off the pitch rule seems to have rendered that particular tactic less effective.

I suspect the ref was telling each of them that if they didn’t get up, he’d call on their trainer and they’d get the 30 seconds. Overall, they wasted quite a lot of time by maximising each foul against them but the slow taking of set-pieces was more effective at running down the clock.

Saw this the other day. Most of the expected teams at the top of the chart, but honestly surprised to see Fulham so low down.

And realise it's an average of all stoppages, but also surprised that the Arse average is that low based on Saturday if that's now the norm.

I remember when they beat us 2-4, the amount of time they took celebrating each goal and getting back into position was noticeably twice as long as any other team. It was clearly a deliberate tactic.

The whingeing about cards for kicking the ball away, is because they do it more than any other team.
It's all pre-meditated, coached behaviour.

Even on Saturday, Trossard blatantly kicked the ball away, after a freekick had been given to us.

They, more than any other team, go to extreme lengths to waste time.

Liverpool a positive team

Arsenal a negative one
Exactly.

Arsenal shithouse their way to a 1-1 draw, time wasting from 25 minutes in, whine about it and leave our fans in doubt what a shite club they are with no chance of the title. Whereas Liverpool will probably come here and win 3-2 despite going a goal behind (again), leaving our fans annoyed but with a grudging admiration of the champions elect and pleased that we're not that far off them.

There was one free-kick in the first half, where they went through all the setting up shenanigans, then changed taker, reset up and the final ball was a nudge down the wing to play a slow build up. wasted well over a minute, for absolutely no end product.

Taylor kept pointing to his watch, but no sign of a card for that one

Just horrible to watch and no way deserve the title. Would be great if they missed out due to the 4 pts dropped against us

Lucked out that day with Mac and Caicedo missing.

It is a shame, on a hoping to see a new league winner basis, to see The Arse being so arsey. They made life really difficult for us with excellent positioning and pressing. It felt they were a man up at times.

The time wasting and corner nonsense can result in them fluffing everything as far as I am concerned now.

I think their fans will turn on Arteta (again) if they win nothing this season (again) and this 'sytle' of play continues.
A good friend of mine is an Arsenal fan and he's always been pro Arteta, but he's slowly turning. He couldn't believe how negative team he selected for Saturday, his words to me were 'no disrespect but you're not Liverpool or Real Madrid'! Arteta clearly aimed for a 1-0 and shame it didn't work out! That was their 9th yellow card for time wasting this season which is just ridiculous.

He thinks Arteta is under pressure to win something this season and he has gone strong every round of Carabou Cup. I think I might smile a little should Newcastle knock them out.

Eh, I'd take another look at the lineups Arteta has fielded in the competition so far, at no point has he used his best XI.

Arsenal have announced that Nwaneri will be out for ‘few weeks’ with an injury.

He’s strained his time wasting muscle.
The reporting of that game - in respect of Nwaneri - was strange. I get that he's very young, and a great prospect - but the pretence that he was great is absolute horseshit. He was up there with Gruda for us, as the worst player on the pitch in the first half - and Bart letting a tame shot go through him really doesn't change that.

Arsenal should be ashamed of themselves for time wasting the last 70 minutes of the game.

I have seen many outstanding performances at Amex . Only one this season was Spurs just in 1st half . I was thinking Arsenal could give a show on Saturday. They looked goodish in 1st half but was astounded after going one up slowed game down and happy to sit on lead. With City of the boil what a chance they have this season but no way will they get near Liverpool with that lack of commitment

Arsenal seem to have gone into overdrive implementing the dark arts into their game these days. Is this Arteta trying to add whats been missing to get them over the line with winning the league? But really its having a negative impact on their usual game, and making them a f**king ugly watch!

I wish a referee would be brave enough to give a 2nd yellow for timewasting. So often when a player gets a yellow for timewasting as Martinez did for Villa and Nwaneri for Arsenal it seems a free pass to take ages again with no further punishment.

Absolutely.
& give the first early in the game, if warranted

The ref pointed at his watch several times in the first half to indicate he was adding the time on but then the board went up with just 4 minutes added. Should have easily been 8-10. Their keeper had the trainer on (couple of mins there) plus they had two players go down from a corner. And the goal celebration was probably another two minutes as they know refs have been told this season to add on 30 seconds for goal celebrations and they won’t book half the team for having a little huddle while the other team are waiting to kick off.
It always goes unpunished. Nowhere near the time wasted added back on and nowhere near enough yellow cards dished out for it. If Rice plays like that every week he should have set some record for yellow cards in a season by now.
People moaned about the added time in the World Cup when we were regularly seeing 10+ minutes added half but with those Arsenal tactics it should be the case. Maybe they could increase the time as well so if a team wastes 2 minutes then they add on 4 because of it.
