I mean, it's not technically true that there's "absolutely nothing", though it might be "effectively nothing". An employee on gardening leave is still an employee; passing on privileged information to a competitor would come with the same professional (and possibly criminal?) sanctions that would occur if he did that while still actually working for Brighton.

Of course, it could be that those sanctions aren't strong enough to act as any kind of deterrent - I wouldn't know. If that's the case, though, that's when it becomes "effectively nothing".
Correct in my view. It should act as a deterrent to Jewell as any breach to the terms of his GL will be met by Tony Bloom’s top legal advisers, with Jewell on his own to defend his case. Chelsea won’t want to get involved so financially and reputationally Jewell could be ruined by a loose email, WhatsApp message, etc.
Nine months is a long time to be tending your roses and a lot can happen (esp at Chelsea) in that time. No doubt Bloom has a price for reducing the GL period.

Don’t mess with TB who could be responsible, alone, for Chelsea breaching FFP rules and being deducted points!!!

Bloom/ star lizard is the hub of the machine, how much others bring is not easy to gauge but its nowhere near 100% and probably nearer 1% looking at Potter. Going to Manure could be like trying to polish a turd, although that club needs total reform all the way through.

The rule breaking goes back to dodgy dealings by the Russian nothing to do with Bloom.

They just don't get it. Barber is what, the second highest paid MD? And Bloom is Bloom.
So keep signing our players and keep paying compensation for our staff. Because you're not having either of those boys.
Agree with this. The only problem I can see is if the FA or Premier League come calling. No other club will give him the power and media exposure that he gets with us. He already serves on numerous committees and can bide his time while being very well paid.

My thought too.
When someone is a potential leaver then it certainly focuses you on succession planning, which we are already good at.
The fact that he’s been put on Gardening leave shows that we are protecting our preparation work for the summer window. Hopefully it’s for 6 months to take us through to the end of August.
It sounds like the gardening leave will be 9 months and due to the fact it sounds like a considerably different role at Chelsea I think that'll probably be when he starts there.

The big worry is that last time Sam Jewell found himself with some spare time, he became a fluent Spanish speaker and mastered the South American transfer market. I expect he'll have an MBA by his start date in November.

I’m talking about the money Chelsea paid to us for Potter, Bruno, Roberts, Reid, Hamberg, Macauley, Winstanley, Calceido, Sanchez, Cucurella, …….

Would be funny if Chelsea have the FFP and previous dodgy stuff thrown at them. They have already admitted to the dodgy stuff so here's hoping. Once gardening leave is over he will enter the Chelsea office who could have a clear desk policy imposed on them.

Even funnier if the relatively small amount of compensation we get for Sam is what just tips them over into FFP breach

Taking people out of the supportive environment and set up is a risk - so no wonder they don't really succeed when they move on - but you can't have it both ways here.
We can't say one minute that Brighton have the best backroom staff , scouts and coaches and then as soon as they leave say it doesn't matter as its only Bloom and Barber (?) and StarlIzard (?) that count here. Albion like to be bullish about succession but its never easy and its also disruptive..
Ask RDZ about his midfield for example ?

Also Albion poach pretty much everyone - and their fans don't like it - from other clubs before we get too sniffy about it. (Jack Hinshelwood aside of course !)

It's a bit of a 'wow, really?🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️' to see that full list again.
For the full list, you also need to include Zac Sturge, and Shim Mhueka.

Winstanley basically insisting on getting the band back together, would be a bit of a red flag to me.

I would imagine this won't do much to allay any suspicions, genuine Chelsea fans have, about the current administration.

I agree; I suppose my 'sniffiness' derives from the fact that that we tend not to go for overseas players or those from the Premier League (partly I suppose because we can't I know!). I wouldn't be so miffed if say Mitoma went to Barcelona rather than Liverpool; in the latter scenario we would have to watch him doing his stuff against us....

I'm getting heartily sick of Chelsea raiding our club and cherry picking our best players and members of staff. I know that everyone is available at the right pice but we're no longer a small club and it's about time that we started to act more like it.

I absolutely agree, but I am not sure what the management is supposed to do when an employee of the Albion has his head turned by Chelsea interest.....and money!
