Ceremonially, Brighton is in East Sussex.

Administratively, it's its own authority.

Head along the coast, and you'll see a sign for 'East Sussex' in Saltdean. Likewise, you'll see a sign for 'East Sussex' as you reach Falmer.

Good Old administrative authority of Brighton and Hove by the Sea
Good Old administrative authority of Brighton and Hove by the Sea
and we're going up to win the cup
For the Good old administrative authority of Brighton and Hove by the Sea

yeah, that could work

This!

gwc, opinions can divide football. In this instance they do.

My personal experience, first hand, is that a number of your team are whingy, niggly, divers, bad losers & overall dirty and unsporting.

Of course!

And that is exactly how I felt your team played at St. Mary's, but add in time wasting. ;-)

At the end of the day, we love and defend our own, nothing wrong with that.

Incidentally.....

I have a little project starting up this summer.

It will be a sports website(centering on football) to cover the South Coast(Hampshire, Dorset, Sussex, Isle of Wight). It will incorporate match reports/forums/general articles of interest in the area.

Anyway will be looking for people to cover their respective areas, so will need enthusiastic people in the Sussex area, will need to cover Brighton, Crawley, Non-league and local league teams.

Anyone interested?

Nice article. Enjoy the withdean experience if you are coming tomorrow. Going to be a good game I think

I'm not I'm afraid, I am deep into writing a book, so my Saturday's are becoming precious. I was there last season, and the Withdean is certainly an experience, although I liked the idea of a game of badminton on the way out!

Hopefully looking forward to a trip to the Amex next season, looks like a far more comfortable prospect!

Just like you see a boundary sign for East Sussex as you leave Fishersgate and head into Portslade.

At the end of the day, we love and defend our own, nothing wrong with that.

I think many misunderstood the tactics of the game at Saints. Saints started the game defending really high pressing right up on our back 4 in an attempt to prevent us playing the ball from the back, and trying to get our keeper Ankergren to kick it long. Ankergren, I suspect under strict orders, refused to kick long, and in an attempt to draw the markers from our back 4, wouldnt pick the ball up (ie trying to force the markers to challenge him, freeing up a man to throw the ball too). This was mis-interpreted by many home fans as time-wasting from the first minute, which it clearly wasnt (no one in their right mind would do that).

For large parts of the first half this pattern continued - and from our (BHA) point of view it didnt work. Several times the defender was under so much pressure they lost the ball - the result was total Saints dominance of the first half. In the second half, Saints didn't defend quite so high, and Ankergren occasionally hit it long - and we did much better and nearly sneaked the result.

I think the misinterpretation of our tactics at Saints (and probably they were bad tactics), resulted in many Saints supporters having a very negative impression of our style of play - unlike most other teams who got to see us in full flow.
