No, it wasn't, it's an Iraqi court's decision which kind of invalidates Simster's argument.

Are you serious?

you obviously dont know a lot about what is going on in that region!

Why do you think the iraqi people are still fighting the Americans and British? if it is all rosy?

The new administration is a joke and is not the representation of the majority as the government would have you believe!

Eh? You misunderstand me. I just think it beggars belief that Blair should even have the front to express an opinion on the matter when he is responsible for thousands of deaths (and billions of wasted pounds).

Couldn't he have just said "it is a matter for the Iraqi courts" or something.

Also, Blair had repeatedly tried to duck the question as to whether he supported the death penalty for Saddam and even when he said he rejected it , it was qualified with a "...let's put this into context, blah, blah, blah.....anyhow, onto more serious matters..."

Hardly the words of a man who absolutely, absolutely, holds very strong moral principles now, is it?

I don't understand this. Yes, the Americans caputured him and so his trial is obviously only possible because of that, but the point in contention is whose decision is it to execute him? The answer is an Iraqi court's. Sorry there's not really an argument here, is there?

Well I would stop reading between the lines then, because the difference between me saying an Iraqi court has made a decision and me saying everything in Iraq is rosy is MASSIVE. UNBELIEVABLY MASSIVE.

What you're arguing is that the court is being influenced by the US/UK, which is a point open for debate.

They were totally fair elections!

FFS The Americans cant even have a fair election themselves, nevermind oversee anyone else's!

Believe what you want, the propaganda this government keeps churning out is obviously influencing some!

I don't mean to be rude mate, but you're arguing about something which isn't really open for debate. The decision came from an Iraqi court. If you want to discuss the influence the US/UK have on that court, then fine, but please stop arguing that I'm wrong about something which is a FACT. And please stop inferring that I somehow (how, I really do not know) think that everything is 'rosy' in Iraq.
