DJ Leon said:I don't mean to be rude mate, but you're arguing about something which isn't really open for debate. The decision came from an Iraqi court. If you want to discuss the influence the US/UK have on that court, then fine, but please stop arguing that I'm wrong about something which is a FACT. And please stop inferring that I somehow (how, I really do not know) think that everything is 'rosy' in Iraq.
bhanutz said:I dont mean to be rude either. but your argument is very short sighted. You need to look at the whole picture and not one FACT as you call it in isolation.
I never said that you think all is rosy.

This is not an ARGUMENT. If you can find me a NEWS article which says that the US/UK has decided to execute Saddam I will admit my mistake, but the decision was made by an Iraqi court. FACT. I DON'T have an argument which says that the court was not influenced by us or the Americans, so STOP saying I do. Can you please not see where I am disagreeing with you and where I am agreeing with you?
You obviously want an argument against someone who is willing defend the US/UK in the Iraq war. Please go and find that someone as I am not him. Note even remotely.

I have no sympathy for him, and, although I am opposed to the death penalty for anyone, you can hardly blame the Iraqis for wanting to string him up as quickly as possible. But this is hollow justice. People living in baghdad are no more concerned with making through the day without blown to pieces than whether saddam gets to swing or not.
So once they lower the rope and toss the body in a bag, will the killing stop, will the torture stop, will the kidnapping stop, will the electricity become available 24 hours a day, will the sanitation system deliver clean drinking water to all, will the corruption stop, will the hospitals be restocked with all the medicines that they need, will the refugees be able to go home, will the ruins be rebuilt......
methinks not.
Be thankful all we have to worry about is the availability of west ham tickets.
