As much as I agree that Sanchez shouldn't have been dropped, I don't think it's fair to discuss the 'what ifs' that went in our favour as part of the reasoning, particularly when we've had so much 'bad luck' ourselves, as it were.

'What ifs' are a major part of NSC discussions on football!

Did anyone see alex McCarthy's save on friday night? No way would maty Ryan have reached it.

& when Pope saved from welbeck- I cant remember Maty pulling off a critical save like that this season (pull me up on that if I'm wrong)

Granted there's not a lot to choose from but there was a top quality save v WBA.
Sure as it was Ryan it instantly becomes a 'regulation' save, but that's how he's viewed these days.

He's played in 2 games where the opposition did NOTHING.
He's also been on the recieving end of worldies flukes and deflection.


I have every faith in Ryan making saves.
I have total belief he will get scored on direct from a goal kick, deflected from the ref or punched in by a physio.

If we were in the AMEX he'd let one in off an inflatable seagull.

Not necessarily. I think Potter wanted to show Ryan that he needs to work/keep working really hard to keep his spot, while also giving a carrot to Sanchez for (probably) doing well in training.

I dont buy the whole "unfair to Sanchez", "he must feel really bad" thing. He is a young keeper and got the chance to play in a Premier League game, I think he probably finds it motivating to know that if he keeps it up, he can grab the spot even if he only played one game this time around.

Didnt see it. Was it similar to the one Ryan did against Saints?
