I digress now, I was extremely proud at how our Prime Minister spoke today in Poland, very statesman like.

bullshit - he was like a rabbit in headlines and looked like he wanted to be smuggled out of there in a fridge (again)

'We will bring about the collapse of the Russian economy'

On the BBC now:

'French finance minister Bruno Le Maire gave a stark warning to Moscow if Russia continues its war.

"We will bring about the collapse of the Russian economy," he told a French broadcaster. "The economic and financial balance of power is totally in favour of the European Union which is in the process of discovering its own economic power.'

And how sad that we are on the outside looking in, struggling to keep up with a united and committed EU.

Just heard on the BBC news that the giant Shipping company Maersk, is halting all shipping containers to Russia, apart from food, humanitarian and medicine cargo.

Russia is becoming more and more isolated by the day and the hour. Good.

For the first minute he doesn't engage with the questioner at all; no eye contact. Seems to be doodling most of the time. Boobies I expect.

If there is anybody left who believes a single word that comes out of Johnson's gob than I can only offer my pity.

You are of course entitled to your prejudices, let’s dial the language down a bit please.

Calling it as I see it - scared rabbit doesn't know what to do. Couldn't even look at her when she was speaking instead pretended to 'scribble something down'. Not sure what your benchmark for statesman is, but seems a low bar based on that performance

Of course, but he needs that exit stratergy or we are just backing him into a corner and thats the worst thing we can do. The best outcome is that someone from within gives him that permanent exit stratergy. But that wasnt the question that was being asked.
Putin is as far removed from reality as is possible. He isolated himself for the last 2 years over his fear of catching Covid and is surrounded by his guards who will also be fiercely loyal and shielded from the truth. He is so out of touch with his own citizens.
Its really a question of which long game wins. Putins or Ours.

Putin doesn’t have to have an exit strategy …. But his security council does… they are the ones who will remove him.
I watched Death of Stalin (again) last week ….. I’m hoping he gets Beria treatment.

They should block the last 3 as well, because the Russian military will take first call on their use.

Can you answer your own question? Did they say that? You got a link? Was it more like they don't know the difference between the countries or just that they said the wrong country? Is it the main thing that you're concerned about at the moment?

Don't feed the troll. Ignore him.

Yes, she made a mistake and was corrected. Other politicians have made mistakes in the past but the troll only highlights the ones he wants to derail the thread with.

Shame we can’t do a massive paper drop to inform the Ruskie soldiers and population what is really going on with their leader.

Judging by another thread, there are Brighton fans outraged that Paul Barber has not personally arranged this yet.

Would you mind not posting anymore toxicity on this thread? Everywhere you crop up gets dragged down, please leave it.
Whatever it is you are trying to talk about with Lightly Baked will be a waste of effort, he brings nothing constructive ever. He is what the " Ignore " function is in place for . Don't fall in to the trap of replying as that's his oxygen.

I don't think Putin is that short sighted. Just by creating a humanitarian disaster he has achieved one aim, and that's to destabalise Europe through a mass of refugees. My fear is that even if they wanted him gone, the security council is toothless. It's a one man crusade.

Sooner or later we will engage with him. It's about whether that's today, in a few months time or a few years. His ideology is fixed and driven by paranoia and pricked nationalist pride.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see any velvet revolution. There's no sign that the security forces inside Russia are holding off from dragging protestors off the streets. If there's a softening there then just maybe there will be mood change. Right now, he's got an iron grip.
