Western leaders fear Vladimir Putin could unleash devastating thermobaric rockets on Ukraine after fierce resistance slowed the Russian army's advance, The Telegraph can disclose.

Western officials on Friday briefed their serious concern that Mr Putin would order the deployment of thermobaric weapons, which can reduce cities to rubble and would cause huge loss of life.

Thermobaric missiles contain a highly explosive fuel and chemical mix and send out supersonic blast waves that can rip buildings and bodies apart. Officials said their use would cause "indiscriminate violence".

I hope that would put a million protesters onto the streets of Moscow.

I saw a tweet that said "he's become a leader in an age where leaders everywhere have become clowns"
Absolutely, there's zero chance I would go and fight whilst our cretins in charge hide.

Is anybody following John Sweeney an independent ex BBC reporter in Ukraine. Very interesting to hear from somebody on the ground but a bit put off when he asked for donations to enable him to keep reporting

Ukrainan comes up on a Russian APC, ask whats the problem. they're out of fuel, Ukrainian offers to tow them back to Russia. :lolol:

seriously though, couple of takes here. one the Russian logisitcs failing on 3rd day. two, the Russian's soldiers have little interest in this endeavour with no tactical awareness from the troops, open to ambush/capture.

The Ukrainians are proving a far harder nut to crack for Putin and are giving him more than a bloody nose. The French and UK along with the Baltic states are also giving further military hardware. This isn't the walk in the park I would guess that Putins puppet general's promised. Probably see some mysteriously disappear now

C'mon then mods let's ban this poster. Not appropriate on this thread as you've stated

My word, why on earth are you so sensitive? The Conservative party received £1.8m funding from someone very close to the Kremlin, their highest single donation from a female. That money was for influence, it always is.

If you don’t think that is serious enough for justified satire and rightly posted on this thread, you’re as bad a Putin by trying to stifle opinions you don’t like, take a look at yourself.

If the question is, why were UK sanctions late and not very strong, you can’t blame people for looking at the the £1.8m donation.

Incredibly brave leadership - the US offered to send in troops to get him out as he’s likely to be killed - he said no, but asked them to send ammo instead so he could carry on fighting. He and Klitchko have both posted defiant videos online again. Moving stuff also coming out of Poland and other neighbours in terms of how their people are flocking to offer rooms, food and drink etc.

British airways have been under a cyber attack for a number of hours. Check in systems for flights affected online & in airport

Still major issues at Heathrow and looks like all BA flights cancelled until 4pm today at least.

Where's the Pope in all this? Why doesn't he come out and condemn this? Am I missing something here?

I'm not sure this type of post/er should be banned. It's arguably in poor taste and not the right time for satire; but that's all it is.

People have been banned for attempting to derail this thread by posting completely unrelated, irrelevant and inflammatory statements/comments, which seems fair and reasonable; IMO posting satire isn't the same.

If he walked 100 laps round his garden on a Zimmer frame he’d have raised millions by now

There is a place called the bear pit for that crap and as Bry Nylon stated keep it on there, surprised at you getting in on the act. People are being killed and you play politics

When they do eventually murder him and Klitchko, it could be Putin’s biggest mistake of his career. I suspect the Russian media will be running stories that they were nazi, pedophile, muslims extremists or something.

He has inspired a lot of people around the planet, a lot more than Putin has.
