Yes, possibly, but definitely not necessarily. However, if the non-sanctioned actors have a similar proportion of assets in the UK as the sanctioned actors (a not un reasonable idea) then obviously the total amount would be massive.

Point of fact, he hasn’t explicitly threatened anyone with nukes. That’s why I don’t think he intends to use them. He would never live down threatening nukes and not delivering on that threat.

Point of fact taken, we all seem to assume that his threats are of a nuclear strike. My concern is he needs to win this war to save his own face, at some point even those close to him must see that things are not going as anticipated surely they will start to turn against him and hopefully remove him from power. IMHO if he did give the order to strike would those down the line push the button, I don't think so. I still believe that climate change will eventually end this earth not a despot leader. It's a " Tough Crowd " mostly because of the " World Beating " bullshit we have been fed by Johnson and his government for the last couple of years.

So many shameless, repeated lies tends to make people suspicious when we are told we are " Uniting the World and leading the way " in the response to the invasion.

Who is "giving Johnson a chance"? Certainly not me. As stated numerous times on these very pages, I can't stand the man.

But, regardless of the disdain I hold for the Primer Minister, I still try to do is judge each situation on its own merits.

This is in stark contrast to the tiresome handful of people here, on both sides of the political spectrum, who can't wait to join a pile on at the merest whiff of something being amiss. They are so entrenched in their views that they are never able to recognise when "the other side" has got something right and it ruins almost any thread on here which has any kind of connection to politics.

I find it utterly depressing.

I am not saying it is, just that it may be. Like saying we have done more to prevent drug smuggling, just because the size of one seizure from random bag checks turned out to be larger than all the drugs found in another country that checks every bag.

I'm absolutely convinced that every European government is doing everything they can within their avaliable legal framework.

I'm also convinced that sanctions and their effects can't be accurately quantified, so league tables are pointless.

There was absolutely a group of people in this thread a couple of days ago claiming that the UK had done nothing, based on the fact we'd sanctioned fewer oligarchs.

It's obviously a nonsense way of interpreting the situation and as you've pointed out so is totting up frozen capital and making a league table out of it.

5) Zelensky is being targeted by Russia, but he was unable to give details.

There was an awful lot (of awfulness) to digest, but having read The Sunday Times today it mentioned that Ukraine claim there have been 3 assassination attempts on Zelensky that have all been foiled by sympathetic elements of the the Russian FSB blabbing to Kyiv ahead of them.

I think Johnson’s past actions do inform my judgement on his current/future actions because his mistakes, lies and cover-ups are so consistent and indeed persistent, that he’s blown any faith I could ever have in him.

I have reserved judgment somewhat on recent events, simply because we don’t have all the behind the scenes information. But I am sceptical about a PM that has so many ties to Russia, receives £1.8m of donations form Russians, spends weekends at Russian politician’s mansions etc.

Anyway, I’ve made my point. I’ll drop it now.

No more sceptical than me, but now isn't the time (IMNSHO) to pile on the PM. We are in a (non-shooting) conflict with a dangerous and hostile nation.
Once it is sorted and peace is restored then there needs a full look at Johnson's relationship with Russia; It might be innocent, it might be the end of him, it might be the end of this government.

What would help enormously is for Johnson to bring Keir Starmer (and maybe one or two others) into the current government and present a united front to the world and to the UK.

Speaking to another parent originally from Poland today, and he told me his sister still lives in Poland and has worked for a bank for 11years.
She has been told not to go to work Monday as they have no cash left, it’s been nothing but withdrawals as Polish people are preparing for war, his family all think war is inevitable with Russia.
