Doesn't look good.

The NP doesn't exist at this point in time. The result of the stadium will come out before the one for the NP, and so takes presidence.

I dont think thats exactly true, it at least exists in the mind of buerocrats and you know what there like.

I'm no expert on such matters, but I'm pretty sure that nobody gets advanced notice of such decisions, and I agree with Dave the Gaffer, that it would be foolish in the extreme if the decision has been selectively leaked.

Lord Bracknell has gone strangely quiet, but I'm sure he'd confirm this.

Dave calm down if it has been annouced to interested parties but not made public as a sort report embargo maybe re certain restictions that need to be clarified ,but I am just specualting.

I'm one of many 'Interested Parties'. Nothing has been announced to any of us.

I'm not expecting to hear anything for some weeks yet.

If I've gone "strangely quiet", it's mainly to do with the fact that I have a new job.

So what is the basis for not expecting to hear for several weeks yet?

Congrats on the new job!

Bureacratic?

In any case as I understand it if the permission is granted, it won't make a jot of difference if the land is subsequently included in the NP.

I know I am known to be a pessimist but I believe that there is too much work being done to only install 2000 seats.

I was also told that the club has bought the seats of the South Stand from the hire company whether this is right or not I am not sure. This would all fall in to place if we were going to develope Withdean to a 15,000 all seater football stadium

I hope that I am wrong

Just a question, but wasn't the planning permission at Withdean granted for an extra 2000 seats and not any more than that ?

If looney's spy is right, and there is a dispute between Defra and the ODPM about the National Park issue, this would have to be resolved in a way that allows both Secretaries of State to emerge with credibility.

It's this sort of stuff that takes time at this stage in the process.

Reading between the lines ...

Defra have no reason to want any development anywhere near a National Park. I would therefore assume that they are the party that opposes the Stadium.

Therefore, if there's a dispute, the ODPM must be supporting the Stadium.

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

But the dispute must be resolved before any announcement is made.

In the final analysis, it is the responsibility of the Deputy Prime Minister to resolve inter-departmental disputes. No doubt a meeting or three might be needed.

But who will Prescott back? His own department or Margaret Beckett's?

I am IMMENSELY optimistic.

[Assuming looney speaks the truth]

There is no way that the Club could successfully apply for planning consent to develop Withdean to accommodate 22,000 people.

Their own technical evidence, presented to the Falmer Inquiry, proves beyond any doubt that such a stadium could not be operated safely.

The upper limit for a "safe" Withdean Stadium would be about 13,000 - and that wouldn't overcome all the other objections.

Does that mean that if there is a dispute between govenment departments, that would over-ride the date for announcement, ie 31st October?

Until they both come to an agreement.

if so then this could be another back door tactic by our friends the minby's

I know it is hard, but we just need to bite our finger nails and wait on the decision. Everyone as a idea, lots of people have heard rumours etc etc.

The truth is the only people that know the outcome are JP and those working under him.

No. The deadline is still in place.

a major inter-departmental battle between who exactly?

I thought the boundaries of the proposed development were now outside the boundaries of the proposed national park ( i seem to reacall wring a letter to someone about getting it shifted)

its only the ODPM that have any interest in this stadium officially. They ran all three public enquiries, they control the Planning inspectorate...............
which other govt dept is involved here???????????????

Wish it was in the EU
Another rogue thought im my current fevered state of anticipation was that it could be between OPDM and Dept of Transport (or whatever it's official name is). This might point to Sheepcote.

Looney's post implies DEFRA...and a proposed yes from JP to Falmer.

Or he may be off the mark.

Hard though it is all we can do is wait.

I think transport is within Prescott's portfolio, so only a small chance of any inter-departmental ruck.

I have heard from two different people that are in a probable position to know the outcome that the decision is yes - and the announcement is set for within the next 10 days...

Worthing
If the answer on Falmer is a yes like we are all hoping and praying how long do you think it would be before Knight and Perry make an anouncement concerning the funding for the new stadium i.e. where it will all come from and how long it would take to put in place so as to allow works to start.

Just to add to the general confusion I have also heard from someone very well connected to the public inquiry team that all is not going our way with the decision:( Big problem is proximity of national park and traffic.
