..had been advised re the Falmer outcome since then we have had this sensational news that Maradona and Ardiles are interested in investing. Are Perry and Knight drip feeding us towards a resouding yes once the OPDM have offially annouced it. Remember Perry's visit to the planning office on 22nd or 23rd September and the insiders less the catorgorical denial it was nothing to do with Falmer. Is there a specific reason the club or OPDM cannot annouce the decesion for a few weeks yet? Here's hoping.

if this were true WE ARE f***ed

The nimbies would shout foul and the Judicial review would be more likely than not, as they have not come out and said anything

I think it will next week...possibly Tues/Wed/Thu

Dave calm down if it has been annouced to interested parties but not made public as a sort report embargo maybe re certain restictions that need to be clarified ,but I am just specualting.

I'm no expert on such matters, but I'm pretty sure that nobody gets advanced notice of such decisions, and I agree with Dave the Gaffer, that it would be foolish in the extreme if the decision has been selectively leaked.

Lord Bracknell has gone strangely quiet, but I'm sure he'd confirm this.

Didnt someone on here last week say Sussex police had been told not to expect trouble at the March as a "yes" was going to be announced?

Lots of rumours ..we will just have to wait for the ODPM to make it public

My heart wants to tell me it is a YES to Falmer but seeing the work being done at Withdean my head tells me it will be a NO with Withdean as the alternative. The problems of the tunnel would be overcome in an emergency by closing and sending people through the estate.

Eh? You do realise the work at Withdean is for 2000 extra seats not 15,000? :lolol:

There is no way we will EVER get permission to stay at Withdean permanently other than in the shack we currently occupy.

I know I am known to be a pessimist but I believe that there is too much work being done to only install 2000 seats.

I was also told that the club has bought the seats of the South Stand from the hire company whether this is right or not I am not sure. This would all fall in to place if we were going to develope Withdean to a 15,000 all seater football stadium

I hope that I am wrong

I don't think you're a pessimist. I think you like to plant your little seeds of doubt with any ammunition you can lay your hands on. You seem transparently bitter and it's an ugly thing to witness at times.

I'd be willing to put a very large amount of money on you being wrong!

I just think people are looking to hard and seeing things that aren't there. We KNOW the decision will be soon and people who are interesting in investing money are seeing what's available and GUESS WHAT - we arethe next club to get a decision on a new ground that could be worth investing in.

I also can't get my head around all this capital outlay for perhaps 2-3 seasons, especially when some fans are already using withdean as an excuse for not filling the 7000 seats we already have. Also, it has been stated that the extra income from the seats will most probably not cover the extra costs involved.

I can only assume that the seats are a few years old now and buying them off the hire company would make substantial savings over hiring them.

How much will this work cost, and how much extra revenue can the club realistically expect? I wouldn't be surprised if the increased capacity is financially beneficial to the club over 3 years...

Also...The expenditure probably attracts Football League/Trust grants

I don't know on the first two and I would be inclined to agree with you on the final part if we were selling out all the time at present.

I suppose the people who have given up trying for tickets would be encouraged to do so again and a few more away fans would be able to come along.

It could be that the plan would be to install the seats at Falmer enabling us to start palying there earlier than whent he stadium has been completed.

Everybody else is making wild guesses, I thought I might add to them.

If we sell the tickets for the new seats that's £20 (probably a it more than that actually) X 2,000 which means we'll make about 1,000,000 a season from the ticket sales. I guess then you've got extra stewarding etc but then you've got more income from catering and stuff too. If we're at withdean for another 2/3 years (which we will be whatever happens) then the seats should've more than paid for themselves PLUS they'll have got more supporters interested in going to matches in preperations (hopefully) for when the new stadium opens.
