The England Rugby Union team are all pampered public schoolboys. All of them had Public school educations and none of them grew up on a council estate. Who is pampered?

OK, I got it slightly wrong, but the Rugby players do not g around forgetting drugs test and trhreatinging to boycott etc etc. That is what I mean't

What bollocks. I would be surprised if more than a handful of the squad went to public school and Jason Robinson for one had a very tough upbringing.

I don't want to see England win as I'm a Wales fan but I think the England team are an example to professional sportsmen everywhere. I'm personally well pissed-off with attititude of the prima donnas.

I'm not going to be watching the Turkey game tomorrow night but will be up early to watch the rugby.

Definitely England qualifying for Portugal. I'll take more interest in this RWC than any previously, but it's not the same. The papers have all flooded their pages with pullouts and special features about the rugby, but it just doesn't quite break through to hold all the public's attention like football does.

Care to name any others than Robinson (that came from the working class sport of Rugby league) that had a tough upbrining?

Well Egg Chaser?

Who cares about cheatball (aka rugby). Minority sport of which only NZ and a few Pacific Islands treat as their national game.

Living in NZ has done nothing to rescue that opinion. I even went to a major game once, at the behest of my wife. A semifinal between 2 established rivals. No atmosphere at all. Could have heard a pin drop. The only time they make any noise is just after a try. How can you take seriously a sport in which you can score more tries and still lose. Like winning at football because you got more corners.

Any kind of football achievement is more important than the most prestigious prize in rugby. And remember, living in NZ the locals will try and give me stick if England perform badly at rugby.... although those that know me realise they may as well try and make me respond to the results of the English twiddly winks team - it's just irrelevant.

I'm in Bangkok, having just finished a project. I got my wife to agree to me coming home 2 days late so I could watch the England game on Thai television as there is no coverage at all in NZ of any of the Euro games, including Sky NZ.

There's a reason why it's the world game.

PS Don't let people tell you there is no rugby hooliganism. There was loads of trouble after that Super 12 semifinal I went to. Shop windows smashed, taxis trashed and drivers beaten. Rugby hooligans are no better than football hooligans, it just doesn't make the news.

PPS Did you know there are more football players in France than rugby players in the whole world? A stat I saw in one of the papers during the last RWC.

I'll happily watch Brighton lose to Grimsby and England lose to Turkey if it means England will win the Rugby World Cup

Rugby "WORLD" Cup?

Only decent teams, England, Australia, New Zealand, France, South Africa, Home nations(sort of), Figi, Italy, Argentina.
Rest of the world hardly play Rugby.

I agree with Captain Sensible here.

Rugby is a toffs sport, alwyas has been. im actually looking forward to it but it really is nothing on football.

And I wish everyone would shut the f*** up about 'prima donnas' etc. They threatened to strike because a close team mate of thiers has been harshly treated. Standing up for what you believe in, whats 'prima donna' about that?

What happened to innocence until proven guilty? How the FA can live with themselves after all this shit I dont know, and I wouldnt be surprised if we got beaten in Istanbul. Absolutely ridicuous preparation, to announce about Rio at the start of the week? schedule Sol Campbells disciplinary on the Wednesday? RUBBISH.

The England Rugby team are something we should all be proud of, but CS is completely correct, dont use it as an excuse to compare them with the football team. How can you about 'pampered' to someone exactly like Rio Ferdinand - look where he grew up.... compared to all the public schoolboys in the Rugby squad?

And another thing, the football team tomorrow, whoever is on the pitch, will play with an equal amount of commitment and passion as the Rugger team on Sunday.

Come on England.

I'll happily watch England go out of the rugby world cup, purely because it's an irrelevance. Well when I say "watch" I exaggerate. I won't be watching any of it. I'll no doubt be sick of it after I get back to NZ.

Football - the national sport, the world sport, the only sport. Anything else is just, well, something else.

Having said that, I'd rather they did better than the all blacks, just because it will shut up the Kiwis I live with!

In the vein of preferences!!!

Football.

Would you prefer Brighton to win tomorrow and England Lose?

Or Brighton Lose and England def make it to Europe???

I hate it when England don't make the Football finals. Having said that I would dearly love it if England won the Rugby world Cup down There!

Football for me. Rugby's fine and I'd be glad to see them win the World Cup, but over the years the rugby players haven't all been saints.... it's just not that many people give a toss so they don't make the same headlines. Even on the pitch, half the stuff they get away with would be splashed all over the papers if it was in a football match as 'soccer's day of shame'. For instance, Man U - Arsenal was only a bit of handbags really - more embarrassing than anything else for people like Keown - but from the publicity you'd have thought they'd taken Van Nistelrooy up the arse in the centre circle, then invited the fans in for a turn.

Good luck to England in both sports.

Mind you it is not often England are in with a chance of winning a World Cup so respect and good luck to both sets of players.

And don't forget - three lions on your chest !
