Ironic that in conjunction with the USA, this country demolished Iran's only chance of democracy over oil.

You don't think the Iran and Iraq war involved attacks from both sides ?

I think Iraq invaded Iran. The war was initiated by Iraq after the Iranian revolution which then led to Iran defending itself and attacking Iraq and attempting to overthrow Saddam Hussein, yes. Obviously the OP meant initiating an attack but if you want to be be ridiculously pedantic then you are correct.

So the Royal Navy seized the original Iranian oil tanker for breaking EU sanctions (?) at Gibraltar but why the Royal Navy just let it sail on into the Med and let another EU navy get involved like the Greeks after all Germany has just supplied their navy with billions of Euros in equipment ?

I don't think anyone's worried about Iran invading another country

I think the worry is they could luz a nuclear device straight into Israel

And Israel could quite easily do the same to Iran.

I guess thats why they feel the need to defend themselves. Especially as Israel has a history of land grabbing from its neighbours.

Jeremy Hunt believed and trusted his Iranian counterpart, the prat.
And he wanted to be PM.
I wonder what Boris would have done though, made it worse probably.
What a choice for PM we have got.

Plenty of Tory members trust Boris enough to be PM, Hunt made just the one bad judgement.

I don’t give a shit about Iran until they’ve invaded France.

Somewhat twisted view of how Israel occupied territory once owned by Arab neighbours - those areas were lost by Syria, Egypt and Jordan following wars started by those countries. If you start a war and then lose can you really claim that if you’ve lost territory it was a “land grab”?

So the government is calling for a European-led Maritime Security Force for the Gulf. My irony radar went up to ear damaging levels...

Let's see how far Boris's fluffy bunny jolly jape Eton persona takes him, first time a truly hard call had to be made that demands genuine leadership. And I don't mean that Brexit bolleaux. That challenge will come soon enough, nothing's surer. Won't be holding my breath.
