There’s no reason for a southbound train to be stopping in Platform 1 at Preston Park . Also all the shots on a train was clearly a train travelling on the east Coastway (which doesn’t call at Preston Park) but that would explain why I got an email at work asking someone to approve filming for ITV on a Eastbourne to Brighton service.

I noted the same. Also, I might be missing something here but where or what is Hob's Dyke? Are they not allowed to say Devil's Dyke any more? I'm surprised "Dyke" made it to air.

Norman Potting far too young. He is nothing like I imagined/hoped, sadly. I imagined an older actor, more beaten down and cynical, like the book.

But for all my misgivings, it was still decent enough. It's not a world beater, but at least it's not a travesty. The first one was better.

I agree with untidy but police used to retire at 55 until recently. I thought early 40s and a bit dumpy.

Not been along the south coast for years - in one shot there looked like a huge row of solar panels next to the railway line. Where's would that be?

Ah, thank you. I was trying to work out where the inside train shots were, as it didn't seem to be on the London line. At one point there was some water in the background, possibly somewhere between Lewes and Glynde?? Or between Polegate and Hampden Park.

Didn't get the need not to say Devil's Dyke either.

I agree, thought it was pretty enjoyable, noticed they also said “fresh mount road” instead of “freshfield road” must be something similar with the devils dyke thing, noticed they still managed to include “Portslade” as they probably couldn’t do anything to lower the reputation of Brighton’s greatest suburb

It’s either between Seaford and Newhaven (unlikely to be a 377 as most trains down there are 313s), so I’m guessing they probably picked a Ore to Eastbourne rather than Eastbourne service, as it vaguely looked like maybe beyond Eastbourne, but Glynde to Lewes is a good shout thinking about it. I never found out what service they picked in the End, was passed onto some above my pay grade

We notice it because we live here, plenty of ITV filming happens in Manchester where a car turns left in Chorlton Cum Hardy and in the next scene it’s in Moston

The Hob's Dyke thing really irritated me. The appeal of the books for many readers is the Brighton references. It's called Devil's Dyke. Perhaps Sydney can explain what sounds to me like a Woke decision to avoid causing offence.

That's causing offence in a TV show depicting live murder for entertainment before the 9.00pm watershed.

Having "immigrated" to Shropshire some 20 years ago and only getting back to Brighton a couple of times a year I loved this for spotting places I recognised from having lived in Sussex for my first 40 years.

The plot was a bit strong, but on the whole, I liked it.

I can live with Hob's Dyke and Fresh Mount Road as poetic licence.

Sounds doubtful, but I can’t think of any other reason. However, I think that would be the producer’s decision, one wouldn’t require clearance to name an area, surely? Interesting.

It’s murder rate is not as high as the beautiful Caribbean island of Saint Marie. However it’s usually always some white middle class ponce (or some blond milf with a seventy year old husband) Fortunately the crime is always quickly cleared up by something said by a shit for brains PC and the clues pieced together by Father Dougal Maguire or that dumb arse from Love Actually. The episode always finishes up with the catchphrase “ I would have got away with it if it hadn’t have been for those meddling kids”
