A good way to launder your drug money for 90p in the £.
45 on red 45 on black a tenner on zero; occasional zeros give you a brucie bonus

Why even bother playing and risk losing 10%. Go to a busy casino on a Friday or Saturday night, put your money in a slot or roulette machine and cash out.

Really? normally to clean money you need a legitimate business providing receipts for goods or services, Casinos don't in general give out receipts.

You put your dirty money in the machine, the machine gives you a ticket, you give the ticket to a cashier, the cashier gives you new money.

Not quite, take in a big wad, cash in for chips at a table, win a bit, lose a bit then go to cashiers with a good handful of chips for cash/cheque and a receipt. Exit with 'their' money you 'won'

I have had a problem with these machines in the past. Dont play them anymore, roulette is the worst game in terms of odds as there a 37 numbers and pays 35 to 1. Occasionally have a bet on the football but only a pound not to entice me to gamble anymore. Hope you can sort it mate.

Incorrect it's the best game...3% against, you do get your £1 back on the 35/1...so given normal luck 100 £1 single number bets will leave you with £97 (after an hour?)

There may not be receipts flying about, but Casinos have a pretty good idea how much money each customer wins/loses as all (significant) cash activity is monitored and recorded. Saying you won £10k in a casino is all well and good, but you will no doubt be asked to prove where the original £10k you threw on the table came from.

Nestling in green nowhere
NSC is very contrary. A few months back a bloke same on here and admitted to being an alkie and asking whether it was a disease or a character weakness. There were a LOT of self righteous cocks on here then claiming that addiction is just lack of moral fibre or backbone.

How refreshing to see this guy getting some great advice and sympathy...and he doesn't even reckon he's addicted!

I am a manager of a bookmakers, gambling like many things can be an addiction, in my opinion worse than an alcoholic (my eldest son is an alcoholic so I speak with a decent amount of experience on both counts) I could tell sad storys most likely every day with regards to the FOBT machines, but I wont (those sad storys would only be about the same few people day in day out anyway!)

Basically, and in my opinion, and with first hand experience of the subject in question, I feel that individuals should be allowed a choice in life, in many things, for every addict I watch on the machines, I see many responsible people using them, many many more responsible people from all walks of life as opposed to a few addicts.

Yes they can be addictive, as can cigarettes, alcohol, chocolate and just about anything you want to think about, the same old saying stands, "to much of anything can be bad for you" Now if every tempting item were to be taken away from all of us, what would we be left with? not much I doubt. individual control is whats needed, not individuals blaming all and sundry for what they cant help themselves for.

On a good note, David Cameron has and is doing a fine job of stopping many betting shops best customers!! and long may he continue to do so, anyone who is claiming JSA / certain Benefits but can enter a betting shop everyday and be their best customer is proving there is a problem way above machine addiction!

I fully accept other peoples points of view on the subject, after all its a free country and as an individual we are allowed a choice of what we feel is right or wrong.

You lost me at "bookmakers" because the FOBTs have nothing to do with bookmaking or betting - despite the carefully-contrived name. Bookmaking and betting involve fluid margins and opinion, on both sides. FOBTs have a fixed margin and are an entirely mechanical way to remove money from the punters' pockets. Hills, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power etc aren't opening hundreds of shops in Britain's poorest communities because they are evil, amoral businesses who get a kick out of impoverishing people who already have precious little to lose. They're doing it because the only brake on a FOBT's ability to make you money is the amount of time each day when there's no-one stood in front of it. The most economically deprived areas are, almost without exception, the ones with the highest population density, so there is more chance that there will be a finger pushing the buttons for as long as possible.

There are plenty of things which you're not free to choose to do because the government - elected by the people - has decided it would not be in society's best interests. Roulette was banned in "betting" shops until the last Labour government decided to let it in. It was an incredibly stupid thing to do, and it has blighted communities across the country.
