That is not true. They approached the club and then we, eventually, decided to give them permission.

BOF why do you have to contradict me all the f***ing time? Anyway you've got to admit the ECB have to bring in a Transfer system now, because Surrey throwing their money about to every Tom,Dick and Harry is just not on....

Oh dear, Basil. I tend to contradict those people that I believe to be wrong. Sorry if I believe you have been wrong on more than one occasion.

What do you mean a transfer system? They asked permission, we granted and will receive compensation if RHB agrees terms with Surrey?

Sadly, we will never be a big boy as we do not have facilities to gain test status and the revenue that it brings in. There is no solution to that. It is how it has been ever since the game moved into the professional era.

Don't think any compensation we get will be that great (a years wages and a bit more maybe).
Look on the bright side, Slurrey were sniffing around Nasher and Luke Wright (both much better players) as well as RHB but he is the only they have robbed. I don't blame Adams at all, he's just doing his job albeit some of the statements he's made recently have been a bit cringeworthy. What does seem a bit dodge is Alec Stewart and his friendship with Roger Hamilton-Brown. If this story is true then f*** RHB if he doesn't want to play for us.

Potential.

That's what he's got. But then we thought that about Rayner last year and it hasn't really worked.

It's not a total travesty - that would be losing Joyce.

Highlight of his career - seeing him out on the piss at 2am hours before a game.

At Lord's.

I think people are being unrealistic if they think RHB wouldn't accept the package being offered to him. We're talking about the captaincy - right now - of one of the biggest counties in the game.

In many respects it's surprising that since Adams went to the enemy he hasn't tried to get more players off us. Adams arrived with as poor a Surrey squad as they've had in many a year.

The main thing is most of our big players have re-signed and the squad's in pretty good shape.

Thee biggest county on the county circuit. No team gets close.
