I really do not see an issues other than another Premiership player who is totally full of himself and full of financial greed.

I like the lad. I don't see where all the doom mongers are coming from. Not many lads could come out as level-headed as they went in to the world of celebrity, money and superstardom that the top players receive. I think he seems ok. He has a sensible wife, good family around, doesn't seem to have an alcohol problem. He carries a few more pounds than he should - but he seems ok.

All he is doing is going for a significant pay increase, leaving what seems to be a declining force. Who could blame him.

In some respects this is a re-run of the Christiano Ronaldo saga. He had a penchant for parties, ladies of the night, and angled for a move. No one suggested he was turning into Gazza or George Best.

Unfortunately for him I don't think he is smart enough to make the right move for his career & family. I think he'll take the money at Man City.

i think the whole thing stems from Coleen. she is deffo putting on the squeeze to make him move to Spain . Hes in the dog house with her and he's gotta do something quick to salvage his homelife!

Because he is going for a job that pays more ?

If you're suggesting I'm saying he is greedy for wanting to go to another job for more cash then yes. Whilst all elite sportmen and women wish to reap the financial fruits of their talent and labour most will rank professional fulfilment above anything else.

Going to Manc City does not do this in my opinion. If he really wants to show he is top dog then go abroad and prove it in a different league. Or maybe he has realised something?

I did! Well I said he could and also there may be parallells with Best (who also left Utd in his prime). Not saying it's a given by any means though.

Is the correct answer. Christiano and wayne were "ates" of the pitch, once Ronaldo was replaced by others like Michael Owen who were more disciplined, it's obvious wayne would want away.

Like Ian Rush before though, I can't see him adapting to foreign climes.

There is NO WAY Coleen will move to Spain. All her family is in the north-west, and she helps care for her disabled sister. I very much doubt she'd even move down south, let alone abroad.

Then we are all greedy - and Rooney is no different from you or I when faced with doubling or tripling his money.

Professional fulfilment ? That could happen at City.

This all certainly puts paid to the matra we've been hearing the last few years .... "Wayne just wants to play football"

He certainly has limited options. I'm sure he won't go abroad - several reasons for that, as people have already stated. I cn't see spurs stumping up that much transfer, let alone the wages. I don't think Chelsea hve tha money o spend any more - but Roman may dig deep if he feels like it.

As far as I can see it's only City or stay at Utd.

It strikes me he is like that. But at the same time - he is not an idiot. He can see United as a declining force. Why not increase his money ?
True, but don't you think there's a bit of a conflict of interest? He wants to maximise his earnings (fair enough), but he also wants Man U to bid for other players as he's worried about declining standards. However if he's going to collar a vast slice of the wages budget that will leave less for others - plus the other players (new or existing) will want their own increases to at least get near his salary.

Man U aren't a bottomless pit, maybe he could forgo a massive basic increase and leave more money in the 'pot' so that they can afford to sign decent replacements for Scholes, Giggs, etc to stop Man U from becoming a decling force? Plus dampen down expectation that Man U always pay top dollar wages.

.... Alteratively he could just go to City.

Might have helped his cause if he'd actually earned his money this season so far and maybe helped his team to do a bit better.

I am suprised to see you defending this sulky prima donna who obviously cares more about money than football.
