Saw him play out at Worthing pre season against Whitehawk & I thought he had promise. He scored an absolute belter too. Maybe with 7 subs he'd have more chance of having a go.

Gus gave Bergkamp a guided tour of the Amex and then spent at least 30 minutes pitch side trying to persuade him to sign for us. Gus was involved in the signing I saw it with my own eyes

That's exactly what people on this site used to say about Dean White when some of us could see he was a useless piece of shit. We were right.

Dean White wasn't all that bad. Granted, his post-Brighton record, is not great.

Obviously it is difficult to suggest that Hinshelwood has been an outright success. There may have been more (or less) players coming through if someone else had been in charge. He does command more respect that some people are willing to give him, but I guess this is football and anything goes.

Gus did say that a big name was coming to the Albion.

This guy can't be all that bad, he scored goals in the Dutch top flight last year and played for their U21's, ad all this stuff about Poyet not being involved is just BULLSHIT. What do you honestly think happened? That JS and TB smuggled the player into the boardroom whilst Poyet got on with his daily business, signed him, and then told him to turn up for training and keep mum??

What I don't get, even if this is true is:

a) Why has Bergkamp not been playing with the development squad etc this yr?

b) Why did he play pre season if he wasn't considered part of either squad (1st team and development)

c) Wasn't there a pic / quote from Gus when Bergkamp signed? I do remember Gus saying in the Argus 1 or 2 days before he signed that he's 'not what we're looking for - we need proven players'!

If Gus didn't want him around, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be in the team photo and would have been shipped out to another club on loan.

Some of you lot do love a conspiracy theory!

Nice. Do you mean you didn't rate him as a coach? (On what grounds I'm not sure as I assume you actually have no idea).

Just far enough away from LDC
I am sure that if the club/Poyet wanted Hinshlewood out he would have gone by now.

Putting 2 and 2 together and making 12751 ...........didn't Tip Top refer in his thread (link below) to a member of the backroom staff with more experience than Gus being unhappy with his approach?

Poyet does'nt really get it

Brighton - In your face
Was speaking to a member of the Albion staff yesterday and dipped my toe in regarding John Stephensons rather quick depature ,it turns out that he alone sighned Bergcamp and that Gus went ape shit over it.basically gave the club an altimatum him or me the rest is history also told that Hinchlewood has been offerd redundancy but has refused to go .Hes been put in a tiny office with no windows as Gus does not see him in being able to run his new acadamy ,to stuck in his old ways ect ect

It's just my opinion but . . . . what a load of horseshit

personally I would like to see him play... I think he could be a "plan b" option as we have all debated recently. Never seen him play but he looks a big bloke and could possiblly hold it up flick it on for CMS and Vicente etc. Surely has to be worth looking at... I feel sorry for him if all this is true.
