THIS IS A RANT!

This was going to always be a comedy drama, some of you people were expecting the same thing as OFAH. But this was completely different from start to finish. It was never mean't to be all about Del Boy! It was always going to be about his family and them meeting Freddy Robdal! You lot need to watch them all over again and find out comparision with how Rodney is and how Robdal was, they're there watch it again if you don't f***ing believe me. There was even a reference of Pam Smith. If you remember back when Rodders was dating her daughter, and Del thought it was his bloody daughter which it wasn't, it was Alfie Littlewoods daughter. Roy Slater in the pond reference was made, in the "hooky" oven episode. I can carry on if you want me to, because i thought it was BRILLANT!

Rant over!

Kev you are spot on, although some minor points, wasnt it June Snell (Debbie's mum) not Pam Smith? and Debbie' father was Albie Littlewood

I enjoyed it but I remember in one episode Boycie agreeing with Del that Rodney was just like his mum...standing in the corner of a pub with two blokes. Last night's Joanie seemed quite naive and backward when it came to Freddie and the cinema manager and not the man hungry tart I always imagined her being.

Surely the Joanie mentioned in OFAH episodes would've been sucking the cinema manager off to get promoted and would have been all over Freddie from the start?

The actress who played rodneys mum was really good and as a drama it was ok but it was billed as a comedy in the press that i read leading up to it and there was heaps of articles about it but one or two titters apart it was not funny! Very disappointed overall.

Sounded like it was going to be shithouse, and sounds like it was. Delighted to have missed it.

I actually thought there were parts that were quite dark ( the comment made by del Boy's father to his mother about not needing mascara as he would black her eyes) and then Del's reaction to it. Also the bit in teh school where the PE teacher told them to get out of school as he didnt want them there and they didnt want to be there

I thought the bloke playing Grandad was very good and Nicholas Lyndhurst played his father very well. There was this air of menace about him which was very well done.

I suppose the "funny" bits were the scenes in the Cinema Manager's office, again really well played by both actors.

I think for those expecting a OF&H type programme it definately was not what expected and perhaps to describle it as a comedy was a bit tenuous.

the bit at the end when Rodney was born and his mother " showed" him to his father across the devide of the high rise flats was a nice touch.

It also went some way to explain the OF&H episode where Del and Rodney were both arrested by a detective who knew them from school and tried to make Del Boy shop in his friends....that detective was the guy who played the prefect at the school.

NSC makes your mind up for you does it? :glare:
What the f*** are you talking about? I made my own mind up, you know, by choosing not to watch it because it sounded pony. I'm pleased to have been vindicated by most people.

OFAH was only amusing for 3 or 4 series, the Green Green Grass was the least funny "comedy" ever seen on the BBC (making My Family seem like a work of genius) and this sounded utter crap. I wish the BBC would stop milking it - it's really tiresome.

Thought it was actually quite good, thought James Buckley was very good as a young Del... I did think it would be poor, as the latter OFAHs were, but it was much better than those. One minor moan, was I thought Boycie, Grandad and Reg Trotter could have been better cast.

It also captured the era very well.
