We are busy taking every last fish from our seas, however, because they dont have funny little faces and mummys running round after them its ok.
There really are millions and millions of them (unlike Cod). I've worked at sea near remote islands where they colonise and they are the most vicious disease ridden things around. Yes, theres better ways (I expect) of killing them but folk tend to get all dewy eyed just because they look cute.

That means that the fish are only meant to be eaten by Humans. How dare the Seals whose ONLY diet is fish and live in the Sea have the audacity of eating OUR fish , they deserve to have their heads caved in an skinned alive don't they

I once enjoyed the sexual favours of a delightful Canadian girl on her office sofa, so I'm OUT

Its culling of over-population [in places] and can of course be defended. The manner seems unnecessarily brutal, as Timbo says, but as a practice not indefensible, no.*

*Not that necessarily I agree with it myself, but I see it as far less reprehensible than any killing of animals purely for sport.

Spot on.

I bet US eats a bit of fish from time to time. Dragged out of the water and left to suffocate.

The reason the cod stocks are on the verge of collapse is due to man, not seals. If there wasnt enough cod or food to feed the seals their numbers would reduce in accordance.

The Canadians with the seals are just as bad as the Japanese for their whaling "research!!!!!"

Im not defending it, just saying it's overblown because of how they look. They are not just killed for the pelts, also for their meat, in the same way we kill cows and sheep. If they have to be killed because of over population, why not keep the meat and skin?
There are now over 6 million seals in canada, three times as many as just 30 years ago so it's hardly affecting the seal population.

RIP 250 000 Seal Pups off shore in Canada about to have their defenceless heads caved in by a brave 6 foot man with a pick with a hook at the end to crash through their tiny skulls whilst shuffling on the Ice in a desperate attempt to get away whilst the Mother crys out loud completely helpless to do anything about it. If they are lukcy they may be more or less dead when the knife goes into to skin them but most are skinned alive.

To Canada's eternal shame. :angry::angry:
To be fair, it would cost a small fortune in additional labour costs if the Canadians waited to ensure the seals were dead before skinning them.

Not saying that it's right, mind.

RIP the 250,000th RIP post on NSC by a 5ft 11 in wally with a keyboard in his hands and a need to post trite rubbish, shuffling around in Southwick whilst the mothers of Mile Oak crys (sic) out loud completely helpless to do anything about it. If we are lucky this will be more or less the last RIP post but NSC posters have thin skins and sad lives.

To NSC's eternal shame.

sorry about the sarcastic tone, Uncle S but does anybody really care and do you really mean for 250,000 seals to "Rest in peace"?

They're seals for God's sake. It's not as if it's something important such as some geezer who starred in a crap geriatric's sitcom, is it?

Anyhow...John Candy was Canadian so they can't be all bad.

Oh...as is Leonard Cohen and Donald Sutherland. They're bloody brilliant, those canadians.

And I like a nice Canadian Club on the rocks.

Dont say that to a Jewess Gareth, I once got into a right 2 and 8 trying to argue against wearing fur. Seemly if you are against it you are anti-semetic
