If they are lukcy they may be more or less dead when the knife goes into to skin them but most are skinned alive.

We are busy taking every last fish from our seas, however, because they dont have funny little faces and mummys running round after them its ok.
There really are millions and millions of them (unlike Cod). I've worked at sea near remote islands where they colonise and they are the most vicious disease ridden things around. Yes, theres better ways (I expect) of killing them but folk tend to get all dewy eyed just because they look cute.

I've always had a BRILLIANT time working out there, and none of the LOVELY CANADIAN girls I met killed any seal pups to the best of my knowledge. Mind you. Winnipeg is about 1000 miles from the sea.
