That's sad. Scored the goal that relegated man u.
Famous urban myth is that. They were down regardless of whether they won that day or not as other results had gone against them.

He was just before my time, so it was always just an oft mentioned name. But it does appear that he would have been in the team alongside Charlton and Best. It's no wonder they lifted the European Cup in the late 60s.

RIP

What a legend, and those who saw him at his peak claim he was one of the best ever… and a lovely bloke too.

Rest in peace Denis… sounds like he’s been very ill, and hopefully the end to suffering will allow his family to remember the good times ⚽

As for us, not great timing to be next up at Old Trafford … gulp.

My late father remembered him signing for Huddersfield Town when bill Shankley was manager. He was a little wiry guy who wasn’t all that but became better and better so that a few years later he was bought by Busby but Shankley wanted to take him to Liverpool but couldn’t afford him.

he was the first real British superstar player.

Wasn't there a brilliant moment when Denis Law, playing for one of the Manchester clubs , was fiddling with his tight shorts and didn't realise the cameras were on him? :lolol: I love watching retro seventies football. Some amazing characters back then.

RIP Denis 'The King' Law.

Correct.

He did however ‘sub‘ himself immediately that day, and then made the Man City kit man destroy his shirt so it never became a “collectors item” long before it was a thing.

John Vinicombe always reckoned we turned him down as a teenager when he was at Huddersfield because he was ‘no better than what we had’ 🙈
