Another excellent display at the back from Ferdinand last night, definitely taking the captaincy in his stride too. Plus he does a LOT of good work for charity. What a guy!

Should be captain full time.

Obviously first choice defender - unlike Terry.

I'd have Ferdinand with either Woodgate or King (when fit).

Don't like Terry but think he is definitely better than Woodgate or King.

Is King ever going to be fully fit? Spurs seem to be using him very sparingly to preserve his fitness.

Terry has consistently played well for one of the best teams in the country for the last 5 years.

Woodgate has played sporadically for Real Madrid, an awful Newcastle side, Middlesbrough and a woeful Spurs side. There is a reason none of the big clubs have shown any interest in him.

Also, as everyone seems to be lauding Capello at the moment, I think it's fair to say that it's quite probable that he knows a lot more about John Terry than we do.

You mean big clubs OTHER than Real Madrid...

:lolol:

Terry is a great leader, there's no doubt about that. But I think he gets an easy ride by a) playing for one of the best teams in the league and b) playing alongside Carvalho, one of (if not THE) best centre backs in the world. When he's isolated he doesn't look quite so clever. He also pisses me off immensly when he tries to referee games all by himself and constantly argues with officials (and yes, I realise he's not the only one!).

Hmmm. Not wanting to disagree with you Max but i didn't think he great game as a centre-back or a captain.
Him and Upson seemed lost a couple of times, for their goal there were three players with no-one near them

That goal is SOLELY the fault of Wes Orange and I won't hear another word on the matter.

But if had chosen to head the ball instead of duck that cross would never have reached the scorer would it now?

Rio Ferdinand grates on me more than any other footballer. Self publicist, media whore and hypocrite.

God that picture sums him up. Someone else has scored, the other players celebration is focused on the scorer, Ferdinand does all he can to draw attention to himself and is far more concerned about checking whether the crowd are focused on him.
