Surprised a few people,by not enforcing the 'follow on'. Should Austraila bat until near Tea,tomorrow and have a lead of 900 !! the scale of Englands defeat, would be simply so great could they ever recovery. Both the batting and bowling departments would surely be so shattered beyond any confidence in there own ability. This would not be a simple innings and 75 run defeat. :albion:

I think Ponting didn't enforce the follow on mainly because McGrath was tied. He's 36 and bolwed a lot of overs and when cricketers get tired they are far more vulnerable to injuries. I still think England might be able to draw the game with a much improved batting performance. Having said that we were awfull in last years first test and still managed to turn it around and win so there are no certainties yet...hopefully.

Surely if the Aussies bat up until tea on Day 4, then we'd have at least some chance (although not a great one, given our exploits thus far) of batting out Day 5 and nicking ourselves a draw???

I'd love it if they batted until tea! It would give us a decent chance to draw a game we have absolutely no right to get anything from.

Let's hope there are no storms coming eh, Ricky? Or indeed that (unlikely though it may be) our opening partnership bat 2 sessions. Just imagine not winning this one!!

think he has it spot on,as for him, great player who took a lot of flak but the last few days proved he is a top player

Great player he is, but he's not a great captain.

His decision to bat out day 3 is baffling to say the least.

He's given us more of a chance (slim though it is) of getting something out of this test.

And just think what that would do for the Aussies' confidence. Also the media would absolutely slate the team and in particular Ponting. I think this desicion will benefit England in the long term.

Any chance of some freak storm hitting Aussie land and washing out the last two days of play? Its out only hope!

My crystal ball has told me Australia will bat 'til lunch and we'll be bowled out by lunch the following day. You heard it from Mystic Joe first, remember that.

I predict we may just sneak a draw. We need solid batting, not taking too many risks.

This Test looks a complete and utter write off.

Although I'd have thought any Aussie responses to their inevitable huge victory would be tempered by the fact that they also battered England in the first test of the last series, which was followed by McGrath's infamous "5-0" prediction.

So you never know, they might just restrain themselves slightly this time.

Oh who am I kidding, they're Australian...

It's OBVIOUS we will be bowled out for less than 100 and all these over hyped WANKERS like Flintoff and Pietersen will be dropped and we can get some TRIED and tested ENGLISH lads in the team.
Anyone got Geoff Boycotts number to give to that idiot Fletcher ?

I've said it before and i'll say it again KEEP THE FAITH!!
