Still reckon,Ponting want a MASSIVE first test win,and ram right down our throats and into the history books. Any chance of rain dont think so,otherwise he would have enforced the follow-on. However he was to pull-off a record breaking win,say England lose by 725 runs, just imagine what it would do for Austrailian cricket,we would never hear the end of it.:albion:

Well they won't lose by an innings, as Australia have already started batting again (very successfully it seems :( )

More like by about 900 runs :lolol:

I posted this on another thread. A newspaper article today.
England are in Australia defending the Ashes the gloriously won the previous summer. The first Test was we know is at Brisbane, and for England it is disastrous. Australia score just over 600 in thier first innings before declaring. England's fastest bowler fails completely taking one wicket for well over 100 runs.

Describing the last few days? No a previous series (1954) Australia won that Test by an innings and 154 runs but England won the series 3-1 and retained the Ashes.
Maybe history will repeat itself or maybe it wont.

The team that bats first usually wins at the Gabba. If we had won the toss it would have been different. We haven't lost the ashes yet.

It's OBVIOUS we will be bowled out for less than 100 and all these over hyped WANKERS like Flintoff and Pietersen will be dropped and we can get some TRIED and tested ENGLISH lads in the team.
Anyone got Geoff Boycotts number to give to that idiot Fletcher ?

Yeah, lets get Alan Lamb in there!!!!

I reckon Ponting wants to humilate us....An innings and 500 runs victory looks better than an innings and 50 runs victory.

That sort of victory could well set the standard for the whole series:down:

I reckon it could be this kind of attitude that will be Ponting & Australias downfall. Have to see how bad this back injury first anyway - he may not play to much of a part from now on!! (please god!!)

I think we probably have, in fairness.

But at least they weren't as lame last night as they have been on the previous three days.

Don't forget, they got comprehensively battered in the first test of the last series too, and went on to do alright...

I think what's not been mentioned on here yet, and is what was responsible for getting england back into the last series and eventually a win was the use of reverse swing deliverys.

That style of bowling had our batsmen bamboozled.

The thing is down here, on our pitches, it's much harder to get that delivery working.
