And while we're being constructive, I also hate the fact that he's on Twitter. No one should have Twitter. Footballers, Comedians, Governments...they just balls it all up!
He's a not very good performer, i feel the need to say, copying a few that have already posted such commentary more pertinently. The guy can be a funny person, but i tend to do what i can to avoid anything he is in when the advertising on 10% of buses and underground stations have his beaming, inflated face on appears. Cinematically he dips his once chunky fingers into some foul-tasting pies and any tv shows become the Ricky Gervais show and a bit too self-obsessive without the depths of sorrow i am perhaps more drawn to in humour. Today when reading about this in the Independent i found not his language necessarily distasteful, but more the idiotic and unamusing stuff about people disliking him due to his success if they don't find monging about funny (i do find monging about funny sometimes, but don't need a professional comic to make me find it so). There is probably some self-effacement in there, but it's just such a bland subject, and one i doubt many watchers can relate to. I'll look into the new BBC series to find out how much he is in it, and then decide. In "concert", i'll never go.
