We have to trust our scouting system.

There will always be some that don't make the standard [Chicksen] and some that over achieve [Ulloa]
Others are still promising work in progress [Goldson]

I think, on the whole, we get more right than wrong.
Far too soon to be making an assessment of Towell IMHO

Bit unfair to compare Sidwell and Towell.

Sidwell is a proven player, capable of slotting straight into the team to do a vital job - as shown on Tuesday night. Ince and JFC had their chances to impress Hughton but are not in favour. Whereas Sidwell and Crofts are hardened old pros, better suited to cover Stephens and Kayal, especially now that we are on the run-in for the play offs. It's not a time for shrinking violets or taking too much of a punt on an inexperienced player. There is too much at stake.

If Ince and JFC are not considered essential then it makes sense for them to gain experience elsewhere.

Towell is one for the future. It would be harsh to expect him to fit seamlessly into this side at such a critical time. Towell's cameo in the cup game at Hull suggested that he has bags of enthusiasm and some nice touches but was off the pace and too easily bullied off the ball, which is understandable, given the step up in standard. It would not surprise me to see him get some time on loan elsewhere.

I agree with a lot of your comments,i just don't think the likes of Towell/JFC etc do. If at their age, they are not playing,it seems they could become restless.A minute lost it seems ,lessens their chances of that Premiership career ....!

Great move for Towell, however it does worry me with a lot of the signings of younger players, the first team in general it's only experienced players who get game time. These DS squad players are a million miles away from getting into the first team and yet we keep on investing into youth.
Good luck to Towell, Dallison, Rea, Chicksen, JFC and the others loaned out, sadly I don't think we will see any of them in the first team.

If we go up I agree. If we dont some of them will remain as emergency back up when there will be no loan system to fall back on

This is an interesting thread but Richie Towell hasn't gone on loan, isn't going on loan and there are no reports that the club is even thinking about it.

He needs to go out on loan as he is now miles away from the first team. Out of curiosity could we recall JFC or Ince if required as they are clearly ahead of Towell in the pecking order.

Hughton wants to have , and quite rightly, a squad of 22/23 first team players. You need depth to get promoted.
This means, assuming we are injury free, that 4-5 players don't make the 18.
Why , when they do , does this mean they should be immediately loaned out, or got rid of.
If so you end up back to square one.

As for being "miles away" from the first team. He's been on the bench 3 times in the last month as recently as Brentford a fortnight ago.

Agreed. Voice of reason.
Bloke has only been with the club 8 weeks ffs and will need time to adapt. Can't some of this message board be sent on loan to Dundalk. The drinking might do them good.

No. Both are half season loans, so no recall for JFC or Ince possible. COG also cannot be recalled.

Only Elvis has a recall possibility.

PS: You do know he hasn't actually gone anywhere ?

No we don't but he lost his place on the bench when Skalak arrived but Towell came to the club to try and force his way into the Irish squad for the Euros and so the lad himself will want to play as regularly as possible between now and the end of the season to try and achieve this.
